About this listen

High Stakes with Kevin Sabet is the official podcast of Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM), hosted by drug policy expert Dr. Kevin Sabet.

Each episode examines the real-world consequences of marijuana policy in America and around the world, through the lens of science, public health, and responsible policy. From the rise of “Big Marijuana” to the impact of legalization on youth, families, mental health, and communities, High Stakes brings together researchers, policymakers, journalists, clinicians, and advocates for candid conversations about one of the most consequential drug policy debates of our time.

SAM is a bipartisan alliance of physicians, public health experts, treatment providers, educators, and concerned citizens working toward a health-first approach to marijuana policy: one that rejects both mass incarceration and the unchecked commercialization of addictive substances.

Hosted by Dr. Kevin Sabet, a former White House drug policy advisor to three presidential administrations and the co-founder and President of Smart Approaches to Marijuana, the show explores how marijuana policy affects public health, prevention, treatment, and the future of drug policy.
