In ep 156 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Vicki-Jo Eva joins Sam and Mark to talk about stepping into a warm bath of gin, how varying the pace on a sleep story for younger listeners can make all the difference, and we ask is there a difference between bringing a character and bringing personality? Our wildcard's feature a prim and proper lady who's disgusted by alcohol, a man leaping across a floor of lava, and an amateur sleuth on the trail for clues.
Our VO question this week is all about what skills you can bring from a previous career to the voiceover booth.
Get involved! Have you got a Wildcard suggestion that we should try or an idea for the show? Send it to us via Mark or Sam's social media or email it directly to podcast@britishvoiceover.co.uk
Script 1
Each of our gin stills is hand-built from high-grade copper, chosen for its natural ability to purify vapours and enhance flavour.
From the boiler, where your wash begins its journey…
to the column plates, ensuring a smooth, refined distillation…
to the botanical basket, designed for perfect vapour infusion.
The result? A clean, vibrant spirit - optimised for extracting the very best from your juniper, citrus, spices, and botanicals.
Script 2
Mouse was sleepy.
But he couldn’t fall asleep.
Mouse fluffed his pillow and rearranged his blankets.
He flipped from his back, to his tummy, to his side, then onto his back again.
Staring at the ceiling, Mouse sighed.
If he couldn’t sleep, he might as well play.
He rummaged through his toy bin and found his laser sword.
With a click and a zap, his light saber was ready.

About our guest:
Vicki-Jo Eva started out as a dancer where she planned to be the next Darcey Bussell. However, as she grew, turned out the Royal Ballet didn't want her.
After training as a dancer she went on to train as an actor at Cygnet Training theatre where they combine actor training and work in a repertory theatre company... and after years of theatre work, some bit parts in films and popping out two kids she found her home in Voice Acting.
She specialises in characters and audiobook narration and is sought after by authors in the Mystery and Suspense & Historical Romantic Fiction genres but she's also used a pseudonym for some saucy stories!
