• 34. 20 Years in Emergency Medicine
    Jul 3 2025

Last week I hit a major milestone: 20 years in emergency medicine! I've now spent almost half my life as an emergency physician and haven't just learned a lot of medicine, but also about humanity as a whole and myself as an individual. The emergency department, or ED as we like to call it, helped me to find my voice and not be afraid to speak out loud. It has helped me to recognize both the large life and death stories but also the smaller moments in between that can be just as valuable. I talk about the pros and cons of the specialty and what keeps me coming back for more! Let me know what you think!

    Mar 18 2025

Ali Thurner is the Vice President of Marketing for Blue Moon Yoga and Wellness, but I know her best as my favorite yoga teacher! She also teaches people how to deepen their practice and learn how to teach through the yoga teacher training (YTT) offered at Blue Moon. I've intermittently practiced Vinyasa yoga for many years, but for a little over a year I've practiced on a routine basis and it's helped me to feel stronger, more energetic and clear my mind. In this episode, we discuss the different types of yoga, what it all means and how we can use this practice to enrich our daily lives.

  • 31. Leadership with Heart: A Conversation with Danielle Campagne, MD
    Feb 25 2025

Dr. Danielle Campagne is an emergency physician and the Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at UCSF Fresno and Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, California and Medical Director at American Ambulance, the largest prehospital provider in Central California. She leads one of the most established emergency departments in the US with incredible heart, tenacity, and altruism. She is also an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. Dr. Campagne is a great example of someone who is always thinking of the whole, whether that is her colleagues, the emergency department, the hospital, and the community at large. She gets ideas and doesn't let them drop, managing to pull off massive projects that impact many. In this episode, we discuss some of the projects she spearheaded, especially high performance CPR for all of our local first responders and revamping education for our prehospital providers through the American Ambulance EMS Podcast (of which I'm one of the co-hosts)! She's an example of someone who truly impacts others with her work and inspires the rest of us to rise to the challenge!

  • 30. P&G Discuss: Following the Road Signs Vol. 2
    Feb 11 2025

I'm once again joined by my sister Garin Hussenjian, who co-hosts this episode. She's G and I'm P, in case you were wondering! Today I have her tell the second half of a story, that at first glance is simply about a road trip that she went on. However, as we get into the details of why she went, and what was going on in her life at the time, it seems like certain signs were pushing her to go on this journey. To put it into perspective, she is a wife, mother of 2 kids who was working a busy full-time job (and not super adventurous or outdoorsy- sorry G). What happens when she gets to a remote part of Northern California! It gets weird... Listen to find out!

  • 28. Science and Spirituality with Mona Sobhani, PhD
    Jan 7 2025

I often think about the topic today's guest, Dr. Mona Sobhani, has researched and written about. Can science and spirituality coexist? I, like many others who work in a hospital, have seen too much, and heard too many sad stories. In order for me to make sense of it all, I feel like there has to be something more out there, because otherwise it would be too heartbreaking and meaningless. In this episode, we have a great conversation about all of this, giving us hope that the mysteries of human experience go far beyond what the present scientific paradigm can comprehend, thus leaving open the possibility of a participatory, meaningful Universe.

Mona Sobhani, PhD, is a cognitive neuroscientist and author. She holds a doctorate in neuroscience from the University of Southern California and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University with the MacArthur Foundation Law and Neuroscience Project. In her book "Proof of Spiritual Phenomena: A Neuroscientist's Discovery of the Ineffable Mysteries of the Universe," she details her transformation from scientific materialist to spiritual seeker.
