• EP 11: Being a Recovering Conservative with April Ajoy
    May 18 2022
On today's episode, Rihanna goes on a bit of a political rant and she is joined by TikTok Creator, April Ajoy to discuss walking away from the conservative think tank. April is a film producer turned content creator who uses humor to shine light on the harmful, toxic and sometimes just weird traits of evangelicalism. She grew up a pastor's kid, singing in churches worldwide and on several Christian TV shows and eventually worked as a producer for CBN as an adult. She now identifies as a "recovering conservative" and is navigating through her own faith deconstruction journey through a comedic lens on TikTok, Twitter and Instagram.

  • EP 10: Overcoming Childhood Cancer and Pursuing your Passions with Ava Paige
    May 12 2022
Today I have singer and songwriter Ava Paige on the podcast! For several years now, even the most experienced songwriters in Nashville have been both astonished and thankful they were put in a room with 17-year old country music artist Ava Paige. Paige is simply not your average up-and-coming young hopeful. She is an entire world apart.
She has been writing songs since she was small and taking guitar lessons since 7 years old. Her idols have always been the creators of songs, and she has never wavered in her desire to be one of them. An innate understanding of lifetimes past with her naturally young perspective has proven beneficial in her delivery of any song. A marvel at conveying the emotion necessary to allow audiences to truly feel the lyrics. This skill is especially reflected in her writing, which is why she continues to work with some of the industry’s best, including Marla Cannon-Goodman (“The Fool” Lee Ann Womack), Terri Jo Box (“American Scandal”/Ashley McBryde), Kessy Timmer (“Yeah Boy” / Kelsea Ballerina) Drake White (Making me look good again) Tina Parol (“Champagne Night” Lady A) and Emily Shackelton (“Every Little Thing”/ Carly Pearce).

Paige has come away with several music industry awards, including being named Best Singer/ Songwriter in the 2019 Nashville Scene Readers Poll. She has been playing live shows in Nashville for many years and has played iconic venues such as The Listening Room, 3rd and Lindsay, and The Bluebird Cafe.

With her music career traveling in the fast lane, Paige was delivered a blow just before her 15th birthday. She was diagnosed with leukemia. Gigs and songwriting were put on hold and replaced by hospital stays and chemo. Nashville’s music community took notice. They held benefits, songwriters brought guitars to Paige’s hospital room and sang and did everything to help one of their own. When remission was reached, Paige was determined to pay it forward by forming her own charity, Pick’n and Kick’n Cancer With Ava, which helps other kids with cancer. She’s also involved with several other similar charities. She currently is Children’s Miracle network’s 2022 national champion and works with Rally Foundation and Leukemia lymphoma society. Her 2 1/2 year-long battle just came to an end on December 13th, and she’s working as hard as ever writing, performing, and honing in her craft.
