• IMPACT with Ceola J. Featuring: CEO, Meilanny Haney - From Victom to Victory
    Jan 5 2026

Meilanny Haney is an Oakland native and advocate, a nonprofit founder, and community leader with a heart committed to transforming lives and restoring hope. Meilanny’s lived experiences of domestic violence, ignited a lifelong passion for bridging gaps between communities, law enforcement, faith institutions, and policymakers. As a survivor, she turned her own journey to freedom into a mission to help other women and children escape dangerous environments and reclaim their lives.

In 2006, while still a college student, Meilanny was recognized as a Jefferson Award silver medalist for her public service in feeding unhoused individuals across multiple Bay Area counties. Her advocacy has also extended to supporting rehabilitated incarcerated individuals seeking relief and reintegration. Today, as the founder of From Victim to Victory, a California-based public benefit nonprofit she has developed a strategic, collaborative approach to reducing domestic violence and saving lives. Meilanny’s voice is bold, compassionate, and purpose-driven, dedicated to helping women rise, break cycles of abuse, and walk in freedom and dignity.

  • IMACT with Ceola J. Featuring: Sherry Denise Chaquette - His Hands. His Feet. His Hugs.
    Jun 2 2025

    Meet Sherry Denise Chaquette

Sherry Denise Chaquette was born and raised in Oakland, California, the youngest child of Lacy and Willie Jean Johnson. Grounded in a legacy of faith, Sherry was introduced to Jesus by her beloved grandmother, Emma Givens, and inspired by the faithful commitment of her parents to Christ. She surrendered her life to Jesus at a young age and has continually sought to live a life that honors Him, even through seasons of struggle and redirection.

Sherry has been married to her husband, Steve, for 29 years, and they are the proud parents of two young adult children, Amari and Josiah. In January 2019, after the passing of her mother to congestive heart failure and the loss of a childhood friend to cancer, Sherry founded His Hands, His Feet, His Hugs. This heartfelt organization is dedicated to serving and supporting individuals and families who care for their loved ones.

In 2024, Sherry resumed her educational journey, pursuing online studies that led to her certification as a Home Health Aide. This milestone, which she is set to complete this year, reflects her deep commitment to integrating the love and principles of Jesus into every aspect of her work. Sherry's story is one of faith, family, purpose, and the quiet power of serving others with compassion and grace.
