Welcome back to Brú Sounds, a podcast celebrating music, gigs, and grassroots culture from Drogheda and beyond.

In this episode, we hear tunes from Nixer, the project of Seán Keenan (Drogheda-born, now London-based). Formed during lockdown, Nixer blend dancefloor-ready electro synth wave with sharp pop instincts and a distinctly Irish voice.

We also hear from Peadar Connolly and his haunting rendition of “Codhlaím Go Suan”. Sung in Irish and led by voice and autoharp, the song draws on medieval poetry and themes of sleep, shelter, and presence through the night.

I also round off my favourite albums of 2025, and there’s a look at a standout new release from This Is Lorelei, plus a few things currently on repeat.

To close out the episode, I run through the Drogheda Gig Guide, featuring:

    • A special night at The Watchtower with Eugene S. Robinson in conversation with Róisín Barrett
    • Drogheda Zine Fair
    • Coffee & Clay — a Bridget’s Day / Imbolc pottery workshop celebrating the return of the light

    Tracklist:

    Nixer - Gentrification

Peadar Connolly - Codhlaím Go Suan
