Thomas Louis Buvelot Esson (1878 - 1943) was a notable Australian poet, journalist, and playwright who left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of Australia. Born in Edinburgh and relocating to Melbourne at the tender age of three, Esson pursued higher education at the University of Melbourne before embarking on a career that would see him excel in journalism and playwriting. His most celebrated work, the political comedy The Time is Not Yet Ripe, premiered in 1912 and has since earned its place as an Australian classic, frequently revived for contemporary audiences.
