About this listen
The Title Behind the Name
In this episode, I share a revelation the Holy Spirit gave me while reading the book of 1 Samuel: “The Title Behind the Name.”
While studying the life of David and Saul, one thing stood out to me deeply. Even after Saul’s disobedience and even after David himself had already been anointed as the next king, David still referred to Saul as “the Lord’s anointed” and continued to honor him as king.
David knew something had shifted spiritually. Yet he refused to take matters into his own hands. His reverence was not truly about Saul — it was about honoring God.
From this, the Lord showed me the difference between identity and title.
A name speaks to identity — who God created you to be.
A title speaks to responsibility — an assignment entrusted to you for a season.
Titles can change. Assignments can shift. But identity in God does not change.
In this episode we talk about:
• Identity before title
• Why assignments and positions do not belong to us
• The purpose of the fivefold ministry
• Why gifts and signs do not automatically make someone a prophet, apostle, pastor, or evangelist
• Why discernment is necessary in the church today
• The danger of idolizing ministry titles instead of honoring Christ
Scripture reminds us that everything we carry comes from God and ultimately belongs to Him.
2 Corinthians 4:7
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”
The truth is simple: the anointing is not ours, the gifting is not ours, and the assignment is not ours. Everything belongs to Jesus Christ.
Before we are anything else, we are children of the Most High God.
This episode is a call to the church to return to Christ, to place Him above every title, and to remember that the greatest commandment and the greatest gift is love.
