On April 9, the MSU Museum brought National Poetry Month to life with the “Blurred Realities” poetry slam. Drawing inspiration from the museum’s “Blurred Realities” exhibition, the event encouraged audiences to consider how truth is shaped and distorted in a world of AI and digital manipulation.

The evening was led by nationally acclaimed poets Natasha T. Miller and Mahogany L. Browne, and featured additional performances from local poets and MSU students.

Democratic candidate for Michigan Senate Dr. Abdul El-Sayed held a campaign rally in MSU’s Anthony Hall on April 7. The event featured prominent leftist and online personality Hasan Piker, Rep. Summer Lee (D-Pa.) and MSU student Josh Reformado as guest speakers.

El-Sayed’s choice to feature Piker in his campaign has been met with media controversy due to Piker’s status as an adamant anti-Zionist and contentious leftist streamer on Twitch.

Based on Rachel Reid’s bestselling novel, “Heated Rivalry” follows NHL stars Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, long cast as fierce rivals in the public eye while quietly building a secret relationship off the ice.

The show shows the evolution of their romance as they navigate their identities, self‑worth and the strain of sustaining a queer relationship under public scrutiny and pressure. These themes have opened up discussions about queer visibility, the culture of professional sports and what modern romance can look like.
