About this listen

We’ve all got them. Those movie scenes that you think about almost every day. The films that evoke a memory, or connect with you in a profound way.

Join Steff and Hutch, two middle aged Englishmen who think they’re hilarious, as they discuss the movies that defined them, and why they are inspired by cinema.

This is Inspired By Cinema, the new podcast hosted by two not new mates who decided to make lists of the top 50 movies that moved them.

Each week we discuss a film from the list and talk to a guest who has also been inspired by the same film but has gone one step further and used that passion to create something original: artwork; costumes; stories, could be anything.

In this bumper first episode, introductions must be done. But once those are out of the way, we jump straight into our first Inspired By Cinema Choice- 1988’s Christmas adjacent Die Hard.

This one came from Hutch’s list, so the onus is on him to justify why it made his top 50, and Steff tells us why it wasn’t on his (however the franchise does make an appearance on both lists).

Our guest this week is Ross Atrill, who was inspired by imagery from Die Hard to create some amazing posters and cards, under his brand Half Arthouse. Check out his “Hans Down” creation, as well as many other movie inspired masterpieces, on his Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/half.arthouse?igsh=MTdxc2ZtaHJpNDB5ZA==

In the next episode we are covering bladder botherer Lord of the Rings, Return of the King. But only if we can squeeze it in between unwrapping presents and scoffing turkey.

We would like to wish all our listeners a Very Merry Christmas, and a restful festive break.
