  • Lowe's Integration Success: How Digibee Transformed Shipping
    Jul 10 2023

In this episode of the podcast "Integration Redesigned," host Cait Porte interviews Duncan McFadden from Lowe's. Duncan is responsible for enterprise platform support for ServiceNow at Lowe's. The conversation revolves around Lowe's integration solution with Digibee and how it has improved their shipping logistics.

Lowe’s SWAP-IT program at their Technology Service Center aims to reduce operating expenses while maintaining service levels by properly exchanging IT equipment out in their stores. Digibee has contributed to its success by updating tracking numbers, statuses, and reducing charge fees for Lowe's. Duncan shares that initially, Lowe's was facing issues with shipping integrations, with random errors occurring and no proper logging system in place. Through a chance encounter with individuals from Digibee, they began working together to find a solution.

The old integration system Lowe's used was SOAP-based and built in 2017, which caused inconsistencies in tracking and delivery statuses. By partnering with Digibee and implementing a modern shipping integration solution, Lowe's has seen improvements in error monitoring, logging, and email notifications. While there is still a small percentage of issues remaining, overall, the integration has resulted in better performance and reduced manual efforts.

Duncan mentions that the implementation of Digibee's solution has allowed Lowe's to automate the receiving process, eliminating the need for manual input and saving valuable time. By redirecting resources to more crucial tasks, Lowe's has been able to increase productivity and reduce costs significantly. The platform also provides enhanced visibility through detailed logging, allowing Duncan and another individual to monitor and address any issues effectively.

The conversation concludes with Duncan expressing his intention to utilize Digibee for future projects, particularly in inventory and asset management. Given the size and scope of Lowe's operations, inventory and asset management are crucial aspects that impact both consumers and the business itself. By leveraging Digibee's ease of use and capabilities, Lowe's aims to streamline these processes and ensure efficient store layouts, trucking operations, and consumer availability of products.

  • Why IT Departments Should be an Asset, Not An Expense
    May 15 2023

In this episode, we delve into the topic of building an IT department and explore why it's often perceived as a significant expense for companies. Our guest, Andre Campos, shares his insights on the matter and discusses the challenges faced by IT departments in the era of digital transformation.

Digital transformation has become a necessary evil, as businesses strive to stay relevant and keep up with rapidly advancing technology. However, this process is not without its frustrations, as it often takes longer than expected and involves a considerable financial investment. Andre sheds light on the fact that IT departments have lost some credibility despite their crucial role in today's business landscape.

Reflecting on the past, Andre explains how IT departments were primarily responsible for supporting day-to-day operations without much focus on innovation. With manual processes and limited technology, meeting business expectations was challenging, and collaboration with external partners was scarce. This history has contributed to the negative perception of IT, making it difficult to change this reputation over the years.

But times are changing, and our aim is to shift the tide and alter the perception of IT departments. We believe that transformation is not solely about technology; it revolves around people. Andre emphasizes the importance of using technology as a tool to empower employees, improve customer relationships, and drive overall business growth. Placing business needs at the center of digital transformation is crucial to accelerate progress and success.

For companies that don't naturally prioritize technology, approaching digital transformation as a competitive advantage rather than an expense is vital. As customer behaviors and business dynamics evolve, failing to adapt can leave a company behind its competitors. Embracing this transformation becomes a necessity to enhance performance, meet customer expectations, and stand out in the market.

Considering the various aspects involved in IT transformation, we discuss the challenges faced by IT departments and how they can overcome them. With more technology options available and an increasing understanding of its benefits, it's now easier to find platforms and partners that can support the transformation process. The recent pandemic has further highlighted the significance of IT, making it evident that it's not just a doer department but a strategic one that plays a crucial role in keeping businesses operational.

In our conversation, we touch upon the importance of collaboration between IT and other teams within a company. By involving IT from the beginning and presenting challenges from a business perspective, rather than providing strict solutions, the chances of success in solving complex problems increase. IT professionals, with their deep understanding of technology and the business, become agents of change, driving digital transformation forward.

We would like to express our gratitude to Andre for sharing his valuable insights and experiences. It's always a pleasure to have him on our channel, discussing how IT teams can regain their reputation and deliver significant value to the company.
