• 0202_Communication Within with Craig Deller
    Jan 15 2026

In this episode of INTERFACES, we open the first of a two‑partconversation with CRAIG DELLER.

Episode 2 looks at Communication Within the conservation profession, while Episode 3 will shift outward to CommunicationBeyond, directed toward the public.

Here, Craig reflects on how communication shapes daily practice in cultural heritage conservation.

What began as a single episode quickly revealed itself to be a broader topic with two distinct dimensions: one within the profession, among colleagues, and one reaching beyond it, toward the public.

With decades of experience across private practice, institutions, and international collaborations, Craig has also been a pioneer in using digital platforms to make scientific knowledge accessible and to bring professionals together.

His perspective is rooted in daily practice and long‑standing dialogue across disciplines.

  • 0201_Structure with Mentor Llunji
    Dec 3 2025

In this episode of INTERFACES, structural engineer, author, and painter Mentor Llunji joins us for a rich and layered conversation on the theme of “Structure” in cultural heritage conservation.

Mentor Llunji is a generous communicator and critical thinker whose work bridges engineering, architecture, and cultural understanding.

His publications include Seismic Architecture: The Architecture of Earthquake Resistant Structures and Towards a New Engineering: Reflections of a Practitioner, both of which offer insightful perspectives on the expressive and philosophical dimensions of structural design.

Our dialogue traces a long-standing intellectual exchange—beginning with the study of mechanical deterioration in mural paintings and evolving into the expressive potential of seismic architecture.

Mentor reflects on how structural thinking shapes not only buildings, but also the way we perceive, interpret, and preserve their authenticity.

    Together, we explore:

    - Structure as a form of perception, not just technical necessity

    - The philosophical foundations of structural design

    - Structural behavior as part of a building’s authentic identity

    - The interplay between traditional techniques and modern engineering

    - Sustainability through interdisciplinary collaboration

    - The relationship between engineering and painting as creative practices

    Nov 27 2025

INTERFACES / the podcast is back, with Series 2.

This season, we continue exploring the language of culturalheritage conservation, one word at a time. But now, we’re joined by guests:engineers, conservators, artists, and thinkers who bring their ownperspectives, questions, and insights.

Each episode focuses on a key term, like “structure”,“material”, “balance”, or “repair”, to reflect on how words shape the way wedesign, preserve, and understand what we inherit.

Interfaces means frontiers, contact zones, wheredifferent things meet, affecting each other, finding new equilibrium. That’s the spirit of this podcast: a space where disciplines connect, and ideasevolve through dialogue.

    Thanks for listening. Speak soon!
