We are not being destroyed because God has failed us; we are being destroyed because we are living without the knowledge He has already provided. In Hosea 4:6 (NKJV), God says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” This series, It’s Due to the Lack of Knowledge, explains that this is not about simple facts like “1 + 1 = 2,” but about the life-giving wisdom embedded in the Word of God. Using the example of sugar, we see how this works in everyday life: overly processed white sugar is toxic to the body, and many “zero sugar” products replace it with man‑made chemicals like sucralose that the body does not know how to process—another form of poison. Meanwhile, naturally processed sugar, kept closer to how God created it, retains minerals and can benefit the body when used properly. Instead of returning to what God originally designed, the world often just replaces one harmful option with another, leaving us choosing between two bad choices and never realizing that God’s good design was available all along.
This devotional introduces a larger series in which we will expose the many ways we may be “perishing” simply because we don’t know, or don’t apply, what God has already said. We will contrast the world’s wisdom with God’s original intent and learn to return to Scripture for practical guidance in every area of life—our bodies, our minds, our decisions, and our relationships. The problem is not that answers don’t exist; it’s that we have not sought, received, or honored God’s answers. As we walk through this series, we will see that God’s knowledge is not restrictive but protective, restorative, and life-giving. We do not have to be destroyed. The knowledge of God is available, and when we embrace it, we move from quiet destruction to intentional, God-directed living.
