About this listen

A friend suggested it's time to write my book. I said no. Even though I've wanted to write a book for most of my life, that desire is now gone.

She knows me well, and she knows my stories well too. Which is why she said my stories


had some urgency about her. Like the time to do it was now. But I wouldn't bite. Until I thought 'hey, why not do a podcast in place of writing a book'...then I can compile all the episodes and voila...my book!

That's what this podcast is. My book in verbal form.

Now, I am not an author, editor or publisher. I don't know how to write a book nor do I know what to put in or keep out of a book.

And here's the thing: I don't care.

I am doing this podcast/book my way. Even though I don't fully know what that will look like, here's my idea:

    I read a poem I wrote as a teenager—one I never meant for anyone to see. It opened the door to memories of rejection, abandonment, and misunderstood love.

    But looking back now, I see how fear can masquerade as indifference…and how it was never really about me.
