About this listen
If this is your first time tuning in, welcome to the Third episode of bOLDer People, a podcast where we explore the dynamic lives of older adults in southwestern Indiana so we can listen, learn, and be inspired.
In this episode, our host, Katie Ehlman, invites guest speaker, Janeane Vickers, to the bOLDer People studio. Janeane Vickers is an avid quilter, a former Portuguese Water Dog breeder, a mountain dulcimer player, and a southwestern Indiana transplant, among other things. One might even call her a jack-of-all-trades. Dr. Ehlman explores several topics with Janeane such as:
- Janeane’s volunteer work that ranges from helping meet the spiritual needs of Afghan refugees through her church to working with the Vanderburgh Humane Society to care for and rehome abandoned pets
- Resiliency through breast cancer treatment and Janeane’s decision to “leave the girls gone”
- Advice for caregivers and how Janeane unexpectedly became an informal caregiver for her acquaintance, Frank
- And lots more!
