I think people now realize that if we’re going to be serious about reconciliation and whatever it can be, it will take more blood, sweat, and tears than anyone first realized. It turns out undoing the harms of colonization is a fuck of a lot more work than first imagined. Attaining a base level of understanding of what happened here is not the endpoint to reconciliation; it is just the beginning.

I was thinking about it, and, I mean, wow, is this going to be annoying, mostly because you Murrrrricans really know how to party. Woodstock. The Super Bowl. Killing Bin Laden. You really know how to party. Consider me the neighbour next door who wants the music turned down and all the noisy kids to stay off my lawn.

The journey to being an independent creative is a long and tiring one. If, somehow, you're able to chase your dreams all the way to a place where you can care for yourself and your family as a result, you've basically won the lottery. Some of us get that lucky, but most of us don't. My advice is, while on that journey, don't lose yourself along the way. Here is my personal story on how I am fighting to be free in this work, in my life, and in my spirit.
