  • Wrestlemania 42 Review: Corporate Slop
    May 2 2026

It feels like forever, but we are back for a special Wrestlemania 42 review. We went into this weekend with high expectations, but we left feeling like the product has become more about selling advertisements than telling stories. In this video, we provide our completely honest and critical analysis of both Night 1 and Night 2.

We dive deep into the matches that worked, like Gunther versus Seth Rollins, and the ones that fell completely flat. We also discuss the major news of the weekend, including the massive roster releases and the rumors of a Saudi takeover. If you are tired of the polished corporate version of wrestling and want an authentic perspective, this is the video for you.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • The overwhelming amount of adverts and corporate influence in the ring
    • Brock Lesnar putting over Oba Femi and his emotional retirement
    • Why Cody Rhodes versus Randy Orton felt overshadowed by Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll
    • The return of Paige and our thoughts on the women's tag team division
    • Our honest scores for Night 1 and Night 2
    • The state of the UK wrestling scene and the cancellation of LCC
    • Roster releases and what the TKO era actually means for the fans

This is our authentic take on the biggest weekend in wrestling. We want to hear from you. Did you love the spectacle, or do you agree that the "corporate slop" is taking over?

  • Doctor Who: The War between the Land and the Sea Review
    Jan 18 2026

Welcome back to Journeys in Fandom as we kick off 2026 by catching up on the long awaited Doctor Who spin-off, The War Between the Land and the Sea. After a bit of a hiatus, we are diving deep into this five part series to see if the Disney deal budget actually translated to a quality story. We look at the return of Russell Tovey and the evolution of the Homo Aqua, though we have some thoughts on how the "Sea Devils" name change was handled.

The chemistry between Salt and Barkley was a highlight, but we cannot ignore the logic gaps that started appearing toward the finale. From the confusing tech levels of Unit to the missed emotional weight of the "virus" twist, it felt like a story that desperately needed two more episodes to breathe. We also discuss Kate Lethbridge-Stewart’s darker turn and whether the 14th Doctor is still just sitting in Donna's garden while the world almost ends.

  • Superman Review
    Jul 25 2025

Take a look at our review of Superman, James Gunn’s much talked about reboot of the DC Universe. We break down the mixed reactions, the wild and sometimes messy plot, and how the film puts a new spin on the Man of Steel.

The movie opens with a bold choice as Superman faces an early defeat. It introduces a wave of DC characters, some familiar and others pulled from deep corners of the comics. The big question is whether Gunn captures the heart of Superman or delivers something more chaotic than cohesive.

David Corenswet’s performance gets plenty of attention, especially in comparison to Henry Cavill. Mr. Terrific unexpectedly plays a major role, and the film skips the usual origin story format entirely. There is also the odd inclusion of the Hammer of Bovia and a surprise appearance by Ultraman, which both puzzle and intrigue.

Lex Luthor’s portrayal adds more to unpack, along with a noticeable shift in Superman’s arc. The story leans into themes like nature versus nurture and the public’s fear of aliens, setting the stage for an uncertain but interesting future for the DC Universe.

So is Superman worth the trip to the cinema, or should you wait until it hits streaming? We weigh up both sides.

  • Doctor Who: The Interstellar Song Contest Review
    May 19 2025

We take a proper look at Doctor Who’s sixth episode, which has sparked plenty of debate. There’s a lot to unpack. Some strong moments, but also a few frustrating missteps. We talk through the clumsy attempt at a capitalism allegory that doesn’t really land, and why Ryland actually worked well in a smaller role.

The Doctor’s emotional shifts are front and centre. At times they hit hard, at others they feel a bit off. Then there’s the surprise return of Susan, which opens up a whole new set of questions. The ending doesn’t offer many answers, especially with the return of the Rani and the growing mystery around b--generation.

We also get into the latest ratings, Ncuti Gatwa’s absence from Eurovision (with only a vague explanation), and the rumours swirling around the show’s future. Is a break coming? Who might take over next? We talk through the names being floated, the pros and cons, and try to make sense of the timeline which is starting to feel a bit all over the place.

As always, it’s a mix of good, bad, and everything in between. Some laughs, some frustration, and plenty of questions about what’s coming next.
