So have you ever started watching a movie from the middle of the movie, and not knowing anything about the beginning? It can be a fun challenge right? Or maybe we're just completely lost because we don't really know how things came to be the way they are.

Well, did you know our story with God is kind of like that? I heard from a pastor once, who shared an amazing perspective on life, and he gave us this picture of coming into the movie late.

When you come in late you don't know what's going on, and why things are really the way they are. And this is actually what we experience today in life. We're born in this age, and we're coming into life late.

We might be looking at life, and wondering why there is so much corruption, tragedy and death in the world? We might be asking oureselves, why were we created? Why is life so difficult and we lack peace?

Thankfully, we have the Bible to help us understand. And so, we're gonna be in the book of Genesis, in the beginning, and we'll get insight to understanding what we're born into and how sin separates us from God.

One of the most amazing historical places that my wife and I visited while in Israel was the Garden of Gethsemane. You might be familiar with the story of Jesus praying in this garden. It was at the night of His arrest, before He would give His life for humanity on the cross.

Of all things He could do or places He could go, why might Jesus bring his disciples to pray in this specific place?

What does it mean when the bible says to love one another? Now, of course we know love. We love our spouse, children, parents, family, and even friends. We show our love through our relationships and the way that we care for each other.

Love has so many meanings, and is revealed in so many ways, but what does the bible teach us about love? Why is it that in the world today, we can be divided about love, when by its very own nature, we would expect to be united?

In the story of creation, from the time that God created everything, we are in a sense, born into the movie late. And just like a movie, when we come in late, it's difficult to understand how things came to be, and what is actually taking place.

Doesn't this sound like life? What is my purpose? Why is the world the way it is today? Why is there so much darkness, corruption, and pain?

And so just like we do in the movies, when we lean over to ask our friends what happened in the beginning, let's lean over to the Word of God as we ask, what we were created for.
