This emotional episode is the father of our last guest. We felt it important to get the perspective of a father who loved his son through his addiction. Through persistence, toughness, love and faith, this father truly met his son where he was at, walked in his shoes, and stood by him until they both found the most important thing, love of a father and son.

  • Addiction is Faceless
    Dec 29 2025

The name of our guest on this episode is irrelevant. This is a faceless problem. It could be you, us, or a family member. Please listen closely to this story, a first hand human account, of how drugs led this man from gangs, to use, to recovery. It's raw, it's real, and it's exactly the heart beat of who we are and our goal of brining the truth directly to all of you.

  • Carter Evenson
    Dec 2 2025
Carter Evenson. We could talk to him for hours about all of his achievements in life. He will probably cringe at reading this as he is not one to brag about his accomplishments, but would rather inspire others to be their best selves. Our host Abby and her son have been directly inspired by Carter themselves! Carter is a 7th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. He began his training in 1980 under Grand Master Moo Yong Yun. He is a former State Champion, & started Carter's Academy in 1983, Kindred, ND. He has inspired thousands of adults and children alike in the mastery of martial arts. He has been a musician nearly his whole life. He began on piano, then French Horn, then drums, then guitar. He has been writing & recording music since 1985, with songs on MTV, Fox Sports, ESPN, and many motion pictures, including the #1 movie Bring it On. All of these accomplishments were almost erased from his future by one accident. Carter crashed his ultralight airplane on Nov 6, 1983. He was given only a 30% chance of survival. He spent 3 months in the hospital & had 12 surgeries. He spent a year in physical & occupational therapy, starting with learning to walk again.
