Susan Mummey was believed by locals to be a witch after she reportedly predicted her husband’s death and was accused of placing a hex on Albert Shinsky. As fear and suspicion spread, her reputation grew darker in the community. The story ultimately ends in tragedy when Mummey is murdered by Shinsky, who believed her death would break the curse he thought had been placed on him.
