This week Bryan brings the second season to a close, telling the 9:30 Society all about the season 2 finale of Are You Afraid of the Dark, The Tale of Old Man Corcoran. In this episode, Kiki spins a tale of two new kids in the neighborhood who just want to make some new friends but the only ones available are a bunch of antagonistic locals who are obsessed with playing hide and seek in a nearby cemetery that may or may not be the haunt of an insane old groudskeeper who chops off hands with his axe.

In yet another case of Nickelodeon kids being ditched by their parents and laid upon some sinister and mysterious institution we find the rule-crazy Auggie and his incredibly cool anarachist sister Jazz left at a boarding school run seemingly by two weird adults who feed the student body a bizarre mush that they can't get enough of. By night, the student body tends to a dozens of eggs. What terrible fate awaits them when the eggs hatch? Let us tell you!

This week it's Aileen's turn to tell the 9:30 Society all about the 11th episode of the second season of Are You Afraid of the Dark: The Tale of the Magician's Assistant. In yet another Gary story about stage magic, we hear the tale of a kid who takes a part time job working for a hobo magician who is unfortunately not Sardo. The kid learns the mystic arts and spends a lot of time cleaning up this guy's trailer. When his mom falls behind on work, he resorts to forbidden magic to help her out and the episode turns into a G-rated version of Evil Dead, if you can even imagine such a thing. It'll take cunning to outwit a demon and save the day.

This week it's Mikie's turn to tell the 9:30 Society all about the tenth episode of the second season of Are You Afraid of the Dark, The Tale of the Shiny Red Bicycle. Mike Buckley is haunted by the trauma of losing his best friend some years ago in an accident. He's surrounded by people in his life who wish that he'd just get over it, parents, teachers, adults who really ought to know better about a child in distress. Things get worse when Mike starts seeing the ghost of his friend Ricky and the mysterious reappearance of his missing bike and gets a chance at redemption when Mike's brother ends up in similar situation.

It's Bryan's turn this week to tell the 9:30 Soiciety about the ninth episode of the second season of Are You Afraid of the Dark, The Tale of the Full Moon. This one's a real doozy. Maybe it takes place in the 90s. Maybe it takes place in the 60s. Who can say? It's another tale of a young kid misunderstanding the entire situation and putting a potentially deadly plan into motion to reveal that the new neighbor in town is actually a werewolf. It's like The Tale of the Nightly Neighbors, only with werewolves this time. Is the new guy a werewolf? It's way more complicate than that and in the end it all turn out to be a metaphor for how there's all kinds of families out there and you just need to keep your mind open.

This episode finds a brother and sister adrift in the wild on the way back from an ausement park with their babysitter. When the car breaks down outside of a weird house with whispering walls, brother and sister must rely on their wits to outsmart the master of the house, a weird guy whose motives are sinister but vague. There's a lot of spooky haunted house special effects, ice cream portals, and the tale of Danny Wetbutt, a kid from Bryan and Dave's childhood who was pretty cool about his terrible playground nickname.

This week it's Aileen's turn to tell the 9:30 Society all about the seventh episode of the second season of Are You Afraid of the Dark, The Tale of the Frozen Ghost. This episode, a fan favorite, introduces Melissa Joan Hart ahead of the premier of her own show for Nickelodeon, Clarissa Explains it all in a story about a babysitter sent to live with the child she watches and his two weird aunts in an old house in the middle of nowhere. When they get there her charge begins seeing the shimmering ghost of a little boy who died many years ago. All he can say to anyone is "I'm cold" and I'm sure that if you've seen this episode then you read it just now in that spooky little voice. Together, the two kids will solve the mystery of his death and solve the problem of the family finances in the process.

This week Mikie tells the 9:30 Society all about the sixth episode of the second season of Are You Afraid of the Dark, The Tale of the Dark Dragon. In this story we find a young man who severely lacks in confidence, blaming the squeaky victorian-era leg brace he has to wear following a terrible car accident. A pretty girl at the library wants to go to the homecoming dance with him but he has his eye on an even prettier but very-much taken girl. Yes. Our leading man kind of sucks and is insufferable and to make matters worse he pays a visit to a certain very fancy, very flamboyant magic shop owner to buy a potion that promises to make him a charismatic dude with all the right moves but it comes at a cost. It's basically Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with a heavy dose of The Nutty Professor and a lot of sweaty incel energy.
