A man of the people! That's the phrase we would use to describe this week's guest on Let's Talk Snowboarding! Brad Compton grew up in Davenport, Washington and during these years he would make the trip to our all of our local mountains not yet knowing what a huge impact he would have on the Snowboarding Community of North Idaho and Eastern Washington. He made his way to Spokane, through Post Falls and now resides in Rathdrum. The man has been all over our region, whether it be as a lineman for Avista or working with the Ski Shack Team and traveling to many of the ski swaps across the Pacific Northwest. Brad Compton is a straight legend, and we get into everything from his recent backcountry Heli trip in Alaska to what he has built with the Ski Shack Team fundraising and providing gear and knowledge of Snowboarding to countless youth groups here in our community! Kya Alderman is a rising star in the Snowboarding world! She had humble beginnings, growing up near Naples, Idaho and now residing in Bonners Ferry. Kya is a humble, hardworking, dedicated snowboarder through and through. Her progression in the sport has been other worldly. Last season she took home the Doug E Fresh top spot in her age group and the top time in the competition! She continues to stand atop Bank Slalom podiums throughout the region. She is a top rider for the Snowboard Northwest Team at Schweitzer and a regular up on the mountain! You may see her blazing past you on a groomer or slashing some pow on a gnarly run. If you could define a Snowboarder's Snowboarder, Steffen Robles personifies exactly that! He has the style, swag, and fundamentals that make him an all-around weapon on the board. Steff grew up in San Diego, California until his early teen years. His family made the decision to move to Bonners Ferry as many of us do to this region we call home for a slower pace of life and family values. He played soccer at a high level in high school as he adjusted to a different lifestyle from the city to the country here in North Idaho. Steff found Snowboarding during high school as well and really dived into the sport and lifestyle as he progressed into post high school life. Steff is now a staple at Schweitzer, from working as a lift operator at the T Bar to sending every side hit and drop the mountain has to offer, Steff is such a sick Snowboarder. Not only is he a ripping boarder in the Winter, in the summer he works for the Panhandle Bike Ranch as a trail builder. At PBR he is building something special for the bike community here locally and we dive heavily into his passion and role in the Mountain Bike scene here in our region. We at LTS have wanted to chat with Steff on the podcast for years. To say we are stoked to have him on the podcast would be the understatement of the decade! Make sure you tune in for this one! Growing up on the west side of the Sierra near Fresno, California, Chad Riley first snowboarded at a little resort many of you may have never heard of China Peak. From there his passion for the sport grew and took him to Tahoe where he chased the dream of being a Pro. It would be his talent and passion for photography that would propel him to travel the world and be ingrained heavily in Snowboarding. Not only would he excel as a Snowboard photographer, he also would shoot incredible photos for many fashion designers all across the globe and be sought after by those companies to this day! Don't get it twisted though, his passion for Snowboarding has not wavered and he still has the itch to get behind the lens and capture a sick photo or film an epic clip, as well as lay down some epic turns for himself on a pow day. Whether it be from New York to San Francisco to Baldface Lodge, Chad Riley is global in Photography and in Snowboarding. We also discuss his time here locally in Couer D Alene and his most important job of all, being a Dad! To say we are stoked to have chad on the podcast would be a massive understatement! This is our second episode of Gear Talk on Let's Talk Snowboarding. We are so stoked to be chatting about bindings this week! As we all know the Step On and Fase bindings are the new products that many riders within our sport are interested and excited about, especially those beginners getting into the sport. We talk about the functionality and ease of use on these particular bindings while also discussing what we are stoked on with the traditional two strap bindings within the market.
