  • Anglia’s journey to Great British Railways, level crossing safety and keeping trains moving
    Jun 8 2026

In this episode of Life on Rails, Lucy and Dom explore a major moment for the railway in the east of England, as Jamie Burles, Managing Director of GBR Anglia, joins them to discuss the new leadership structure bringing together c2c, Greater Anglia and Network Rail Anglia as part of Anglia’s journey to Great British Railways.

Jamie explains what closer working between track and train means in practice, why the new structure is a step forward rather than a reset, and how integration could help deliver a more joined-up railway for passengers, communities and businesses across the region.

Lucy and Dom are also joined by Network Rail Anglia’s Route Health and Safety Manager, Shenel Bullock, to discuss level crossing safety and the industry’s No Second Chances campaign.

Greater Anglia’s Head of Fleet Operations, Gemma Browne, also features in the episode, talking about her career journey, the teams working behind the scenes, and what it takes to keep trains moving safely and reliably every day.

Plus, in News in Spotlight, Lucy and Dom look at recent station upgrades across the network and share how more than 100,000kg of food waste has been collected and recycled as part of Greater Anglia’s sustainability work.
