In 2007 he created the award-winning stage musical ‘Sunshine on Leith’ and went on to write the screenplay for the successful film version which was released in 2013. Stephen also created the BBC’s popular long-running drama, River City, and his TV work includes Doctor Who, Marchlands, The Bill, and Around the World in 80 Days. Jennie chats to Stephen about his impressive career, how he got The Proclaimers’ permission to write a musical with their songs, and how he ended up writing Doctor Who episodes.
