About this listen

Gandhi said, "Be the example you wish to see in the world."

And, we are here to help you do just that, through the art of storytelling.

When we face the shadows--within ourselves, within others, within the world; when we have hard conversations, that is when we experience true healing, that is when we build bridges.

And, love is healing.

This show covers all things integrative mental health:

culture, history, sociology, complex trauma, collective trauma, sex addiction, eating disorders, multiple addictions, root cause medicine, frequency medicine, Chinese medicine, shamanism, Christianity, paganism, spirituality, chiropractic, functional medicine, EMDR, DBT, social work, psychology, ethics, religion, politics, parenting, nutrition, allopathic medicine, exercise-- and so much more! <3

Some episodes are Magnolia herself, most are her interviewing other people, generous enough to share their life stories with our listeners. Some of these are lay people; some of these are medical providers and field experts. Regardless, all guests are people helping other people, through their stories and life experiences.

This podcast is informational, relational, and educational purposes only. This is not medical advice, nor is it meant to substitute any psychotherapies, medical interventions, or other therapies.

    Thank you for being here!

    This week brings another guest.

An alchemist, turned naval officer, turned functional medicine chiropractor and applied kinesiologist, Dr. Rick Murphy, DC.

In this episode we have a conversation on individualized healthcare, featuring chiropractic and mental health. We discuss "root cause" versus the "insurance healthcare model."

Themes discussed include: root cause medicine; functional medicine,;applied kinesiology; mental health; psychosomatics; NET (neuro emotional technique): thoughts, trauma, toxins; Lebowitz protocol; herbalism; TCM (traditional Chinese medicine).

Great thinkers mentioned are DD Palmer, George Goodheart, Sam Coffman, Bessel van der Kolk.

Dr. Rick Murphy is a chiropractor and a diagnostic specialist based in Idaho. He is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and a former Navy submarine officer, where he worked in nuclear engineering and signals intelligence. That background shaped his systems-based approach to healthcare, focused on identifying, and addressing the root causes behind chronic pain and illnesses.

In his clinical work, he integrates applied kinesiology, functional medicine, and neuro emotional technique to assess structural, biochemical, and emotional contributors to a patient's condition.

In addition to his practice, he serves as an instructor with The Human Path, where he teaches botanical medicine and how to operate in resource-limited clinical environments.

His work is centered on identifying what others miss and on helping patients finally understand what's driving their symptoms.

Welcome to our first episode on covid stories.

This episode is our first episode on covid stories, where we have guests from around the world share a bit about their experiences. Of course, covid was an unprecedented event within our lifetimes. We will have some guests generous enough to share their stories with you, in the hopes of supporting you in making sense of your own story and in giving you some food for thought.

In this episode, Cara shares about her life experience growing up in Ireland, traveling, and settling down in Melbourne, Australia. She draws some parallels between her life pre-covid and during covid. She ends with providing some words of encouragment for our listeners.

Cara was living in Australia at the time of the recording of this video (March 2026), when petrol/gasoline prices were surging in Australia.

Welcome to our first episode on psychosomatic healing (psychosomatics or "mind-body health")!

This episode is our first primer on TCM (traditional Chinese medicine, chiropractic care, and the triad of health. In this episode, honorable mentions are given to the Lebowitz technique (created by Dr. Michael Lebowitz, DC and Dr. Noah Lebowitz, DC), as well as NET (neuro emotional technique), created by Dr. Scott Walker, DC with the support of Dr. Deb Walker, DC. Magnolia references social work theory, with talking about the bio-psycho-social-spiritual model, as well. A conversation ensues regarding how chiropractic care can be supportive of trauma healing and trauma processing.
