  • Cincinnati Reds and MLB Tanking | Prospects To Know | Madison Bumgarner’s Ejection
    May 10 2022

    #reds #mlb #umpires

This week the guys discuss the horrific start for the Cincinnati Reds, evaluate some of the new MLB prospects, react to Madison Bumgarner’s ejection & more!

    Show Notes:

Cincinnati Reds have won 4 games (4-22 record)
The Reds have the potential to be the worst regular-season team ever
Blame Pie: Owners 50%, Front Office 25%, Manager 15%, Players 10%

    Call-Ups
    Jarren Duran- Boston OF
    25-year-old speedster
    Triple-A stats: .397/.478/.638 2 HR/7 SB
Starting in CF for the Sox who have been getting zero offense from their outfield.

    Royce Lewis- Minnesota SS
    44 ranked prospect- #1 pick 2017
    Triple A .310/.430/.563 3 Hr/11 rbi/8 steals in 24 games.
Originally thought to be taking Correa’s roster spot when he was rumored to have a fractured finger, instead, he’s taking Luis Arraez’s spot (COVID) starting at SS and batting 7th

Juan Yepez- St. Louis- corner infielder
.286/.383/.586 in the minors in 2021,
A pure power hitter with a sub-20% SO rate, Yepez can play both corner infield and outfield spots but will likely replace Pujols as the everyday DH for the Cards if he continues improving.

    MJ Melendez- Kansas City
    49 ranked prospect, 52nd pick in 2017
Led the minors with 41 homers in 2021
2/6 in his first two major league games with 1 walk and a .762 ops
The power/positional scarcity of quality catchers makes Melendez the top fantasy prospect and an absolute stud on a team that already has the best offensive Cather in baseball.

    Madison Bumgarner’s Ejection

Diamondback’s starter was ejected by 1st base umpire Dan Bellino

Bellino called Bumgarner over at the end of an inning to check for pine tar (new MLB policy)

Rather than look at his hands, Bellino was rubbing Bumgarner’s hand while starring at his face

    Looked creepy and uncomfortable

Bumgarner was rightfully irritated, and swore at the ump as he walked away
Bellino tossed him from the game
