About this listen

A unique series of interviews led by Mortal And Strong charity founder, Dr Liz Murray. Season 1 follows 100 women from the Scars of Gold campaign; an innovative health campaign putting the spotlight on women facing life changing or incurable health conditions at a young age. Exploring all health conditions from cancer to autoimmune conditions, gynaecological conditions, neurological...discussing how these women have faced life changing health problems but found a way to navigate through it and how they found their strength. Each episode explores the individual Voice's journey, before exploring how they found strength in darker days and ending on our infamous last question "when you wake up on a morning, what brings you joy?".

A unique podcast led by Dr Liz Murray, who was a medical doctor for over 10 years before complex health issues led her to leave a clinical facing role. Dr Liz then founded the charity Mortal And Strong to provide education, support and advocacy for people facing life changing health conditions at a young age. In the first 100 Voices we have covered over 140 critical health conditions, sharing messages of hope and strength, being real and honest. Trying to change the social stigma of disease, trying to provide a beacon of light to those in the early stages of their journey.

"One day your story will become someone else's survival guide".

  • Mortal and Strong - Voice No. 98 - Bridie
    Sep 13 2025

In this episode of the Mortal and Strong podcast, we welcome the inspiring Bridie, founder of Women’s Health Impact Network (WHIN) who shares her story of endometriosis.

Bridie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometriosis at the age of 17, 7 years after her first period and first unusual symptoms.

Bridie discusses her initial symptoms; severely heavy bleeding, irregular/long periods, blood clots, to name a few. She shares how she was dismissed by her GP’s for years, even being told by her doctor before a diagnostic laparoscopy that they “weren’t going to find anything”.

For this reason, Bridie also voices the importance of self-advocacy and having someone with you to help fight your corner.

Bridie also talks about her fertility issues as a result of the endo, and her early journey with IVF - sharing thought provoking insights into the complex emotions that go in to such an endeavour.

Dr Liz and Bridie also discuss WHIN, and the important work they do to make real change within women’s health.

A huge thank you to Bridie for joining us, and being another brilliant voice in the Scars of Gold campaign!
