Most marriages don’t implode; they drift, and it usually happens while you’re doing “good” things. You’re working hard, raising kids, trying to keep the house steady, and then one day you realize you’ve built a life together but stopped building each other. We get honest about that slow fade and why it can make a marriage feel less like a relationship and more like a well-organized group project.

We walk through a simple but challenging biblical order that brings alignment back: God first, spouse second, then everything else. From there, we name three common threats that sneak in quietly: career, kids, and comfort. None of them is bad, but any of them can become a form of idolatry when they take Christ’s place, and that shift always shows up in your connection, your communication, and your joy. We also talk about why child-centered living can feel loving while still starving the marriage, and why empty nest seasons expose what you’ve been avoiding for years.

Then we turn practical: returning to the “marriage altar” daily with small choices that actually reshape a relationship, like praying together even when it feels awkward, forgiving without keeping score, and choosing to be Christ-like instead of trying to win. We also address ego, pride, and control, especially around work and money, and how humility changes the tone of every disagreement.

If you want Christian marriage advice that is clear, biblical, and doable, press play, then share this with a couple who needs a reset, and leave a review so more marriages can find it. What’s one “good thing” that’s been crowding out your best things?

  • Isaiah 8:8-14 - Isaiah's Guide to Not Freaking Out - 324
    May 12 2026

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

Panic is contagious, and Isaiah names it with uncomfortable clarity: people start calling everything a conspiracy, alliances multiply, and fear becomes the default language. We open Isaiah 8:8-14 verse by verse and follow the flood imagery of Assyria’s invasion sweeping into Judah “up to the neck”, a vivid picture of pressure that feels total even when it is not final.

What stops us in our tracks is the phrase “O Emmanuel” right in the middle of the warning. God is still with his people in the flood. We talk about what that means when the storm is real, when consequences are heavy, and when the headlines feel relentless. We also trace Isaiah’s taunt toward the nations: strap on your armor, take counsel together, speak your word, and still watch it fail because “God is with us”.

Then the focus turns inward, where the deeper battle lives. God tells Isaiah not to walk in the way of the people and not to fear what they fear. We explore how the fear of the Lord reorders the heart, why “sanctify the Lord” is practical and not abstract, and how God becomes a sanctuary for those who trust him but a stumbling stone for those who resist him. If you want a Bible study that speaks directly to anxiety, cultural panic, and real Christian trust, press play, then subscribe, share, and leave a five-star review to help more people find the show.

Some marriages don’t fall apart loudly. They fade quietly, powered by routine, fueled by expectations, and held together by whatever feelings are left that week. This week, we sit down to talk about what actually stabilizes a relationship when real life hits: putting God at the center, not as a Sunday add-on, but as the foundation of a Christ-centered marriage.

We walk through the simple but challenging shift from “make me happy” to “let’s honor God together.” That change relieves the pressure we put on each other to be the source of joy, peace, and worth. From there, we get practical about spiritual disciplines that strengthen Christian marriage over time: praying together to realign our hearts, staying rooted in the Bible when emotions swing, expectations go unspoken, and practicing worship as a daily lifestyle that changes the atmosphere in a home.

We also name the spiritual battle many couples miss. When we forget that, we start treating our spouse like the enemy and every disagreement like a war to win. Worship resets that perspective, invites the Holy Spirit into the moment, and reminds us that victory is in Christ, not in pride. If you want biblical marriage guidance that is honest about conflict and hopeful about growth, this conversation gives you a clear path forward. Subscribe, share this with a couple who needs it, and leave a review so more marriages can find it.

  • Isaiah 8:1-7 - When God Picks Baby Names, Things Get Weird - 322
    May 5 2026

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

A nation on edge grabs for the strongest arm in the room, and God calls it what it is: a trade of peace for chaos. We open Isaiah 8:1-7 with a vivid prophetic sign, a message written in plain view on a large tablet and stamped with a name you won’t forget: Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz. It sounds almost unreal, but its meaning is deadly serious, “swift to the spoil, quick to the plunder,” and it puts a timeline on what God is about to do in real history through the Assyrian Empire.

We walk verse by verse through why Isaiah brings in two witnesses, why the prophecy is meant to be public and testable, and how the birth of Isaiah’s son becomes a living announcement that Damascus and Samaria’s wealth will soon be carried off. Along the way, we connect the dots back to King Ahaz, Judah’s fear-driven alliances, and the spiritual problem under the political headlines: misplaced trust.

The heart of the passage is the contrast God chooses. He offers “the waters of Shiloh that flow gently,” a picture of His quiet, faithful provision, and Judah refuses it. So, God warns of “the waters of the river, mighty and many,” an overwhelming flood that mirrors what happens when we chase control instead of trusting Him. If you’ve ever reached for a modern Assyrian money, influence, a relationship, a strategy, this Bible study will challenge you in the best way.

Subscribe for more of our Isaiah study, share this with a friend who needs steadier ground, and leave a review if the show helps you trust God’s gentle waters over the flood.

  • Marriage as Kingdom Partnership Pt 2 (Marriage as a Mission) - 321
    Apr 30 2026

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

Marriage unity gets talked about as if it’s mostly about conflict management, but we’ve learned it’s something sharper and more hopeful: two people moving with one purpose under Christ. When the goal is bigger than the argument, even the everyday stuff that usually sparks tension starts to shrink. We open with a simple question that cuts through the noise: Are we just sharing a life, or are we sharing a mission?

We walk through the biblical picture of being yoked together and why alignment matters more than “winning.” We dig into mutual submission from Ephesians 5:21, then connect it to the kind of partnership described in Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 and Philippians 2:2. Along the way, we talk candidly about selfishness, personal preferences, and the moment pride gets exposed for what it is. If you’ve ever felt like unity means losing yourself, this conversation offers a better definition: keeping your God-given differences while choosing humility and cooperation.

Then we ground it in two powerful examples of kingdom partnership. Priscilla and Aquila show what it looks like to combine work, hospitality, and discipleship in ways that strengthen the church and shape future leaders. Abraham and Sarah remind us that couples can serve God together even through delays, uncertainty, and imperfect moments, because perseverance is part of faith.

If you want a biblical marriage that feels purposeful, practical, and centered on Jesus, press play, then subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a review so more couples can find it.

  • Isaiah 7:20-25 - They Called for Help and Got Half a Shave - 320
    Apr 28 2026

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

A political “solution” can look wise in the moment, right up until it starts shaving away your peace. We finish Isaiah 7:20–25 with one of the most vivid warnings in the Old Testament: God calls Assyria a “hired razor” and uses that image to show Judah what happens when they trust power instead of God’s promises.

We walk verse by verse through the cultural weight of shaving and why it signals humiliation, then follow the fallout into everyday life. “Curds and honey” show up as survival food, not a celebration. Priceless vineyards become briars and thorns, echoing Genesis 3 and the curse imagery that shows what sin and spiritual neglect produce over time. Even the tools change, because bows and arrows replace farming tools when a once-cultivated land turns wild and dangerous.

From there, we bring it home with clear application: misplaced trust always has a cost, short-term fixes can create long-term consequences, and spiritual compromise leads to spiritual decline. We also zoom out to the bigger picture of Isaiah 7, including the Emmanuel promise pointing forward to Jesus Christ, and we end with a simple question that sticks: What or who are you really trusting today?

    Apr 23 2026

Marriage can look fine on the outside while quietly drifting on the inside. This week, we talk about a different way to think about a Christian marriage: not as a contract built on feelings, but as a covenant built on purpose. When God designed marriage, He wasn’t only aiming for roommates who split chores and agree on the thermostat. He was shaping a kingdom partnership that carries spiritual weight, forms character over time, and reflects Christ to the world.

We get honest about how your view of marriage changes with maturity, trials, and healing. We also dig into a common trap that wrecks expectations: treating your spouse like a happiness vending machine, only to feel crushed when the “snack” doesn’t drop. Using Matthew 6:33, we walk through the right order of priorities for a Christ-centered marriage and why peace, security, and fulfillment work better as fruit than as demands. We also talk about spiritual warfare in marriage, how the enemy uses doubt and division, and what it looks like to recognize who you’re really fighting.

Then we make it practical with one of our favorite pictures: marriage as a rowing boat. Two people pulling in opposite directions require a lot of effort but make no progress. Two people aligned around God’s mission create momentum and a kind of joy that isn’t tied to perfect circumstances. If you want a purpose-driven marriage that blesses your home and spills into your church and community, take one small step this week toward “us for Him.”

  • Isaiah 7:10-19 - Turning Down God 101 - Lessons from Ahaz - 318
    Apr 21 2026

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

God offered King Ahaz an open-ended invitation that most of us would beg for: “Ask for a sign… deep as Sheol or high as heaven.” And Ahaz said no. That single refusal in Isaiah 7:10-19 exposes something uncomfortably familiar: the way fear and control can hide behind spiritually sounding words while our real trust is placed elsewhere.

We walk verse by verse through the Immanuel prophecy and the moment God gives a sign anyway. We discuss why Isaiah shifts from addressing Ahaz to the house of David, how “God with us” can be both reassurance and warning, and why the Hebrew terms almah and bethulah matter in the ongoing discussion of Isaiah 7:14 and the virgin birth. We also connect the near-term historical fulfillment to the New Testament use in Matthew 1:23, showing how this passage reaches beyond ancient politics into the hope Christians find in Jesus Christ.

Then the tone shifts: the alliance Ahaz wants with Assyria becomes the very instrument of judgment. Using vivid images like the fly and the bee, Isaiah shows God’s sovereignty over nations and consequences, and we bring it home with practical application on fake humility, real faith, and the question that keeps pressing us: What do you run to for security when God is inviting you to trust him?
