Best bets of the week: January 12, 2021

Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills (-3.0), O/U 50

The Bills are having their best playoff run since 1995, behind quarterback Josh Allen who is about to, per reports, become the highest player in NFL history in the offseason, because that's what happens each year when a team has determined they've found their franchise quarterback, and the team is about to offer him a massive extension. However, there is no more provocative player in the league right now than Lamar Jackson, who started his playoff career 0-2 and finally notched his first playoff win last week over the Tennessee Titans with an electric performance of 179 passing yards and 136 yards on the ground, and in incredible 48-yard run for a touchdown in which he made the Titans defense look like they didn't belong on the same field as him.

OUR PICK: RAVENS BY 4, OVER 50

Cleveland Browns at Kansas City Chiefs (-10.0) O/U 55.5

The Cleveland Browns won their first playoff game since 1994 last week by taking down the spiraling Pittsburgh Steelers 48-37 after scoring 28 points in the first quarter, behind quarterback Baker Mayfield's 263 yards passing with three touchdowns, and a combined 127 yards rushing. But turnovers win football games, and Cleveland had 4 interceptions off of Ben Roethlisberger's rag arm. But let's be honest, they go up against the Kansas City Chiefs this week, who at 14-2 have a lot of reasons to have their record at 14-2 for the regular season behind MVP Patrick Mahomes, who is widely considered the best quarterback in the league. The Chiefs' record isn't one sided, as their rushing attack and stout defense led them to the #1 seed in the AFC and a first round bye. The Browns are for real, they just find themselves in the unfortunate situation of playing the best team in the NFL in the divisional round. They'll make a good showing, but Cleveland may still be a year or two away.

OUR PICK: THE BROWNS COVER, OVER 55.5

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints (-3.0) O/U 52

And so here we find ourselves in the same situation as many of the past few years have gone, with the all-time leading passing leader in Drew Brees, and the all-time winningest playoff quarterback in Tom Brady dispatching of defenses to move on in the playoff rounds. While the Saints' defense really showed some moxie during the season, torturing opposing quarterbacks with tons of pressure and making them pay for holding onto the ball, this one is perhaps the toughest game to pick in the playoffs thus far. The Buccaneers dispatched of the lowly Washington Football team last week, but we think perhaps it won't be so easy against the Saints and Drew Brees, who may be, perhaps, in his last season per rumors around the league.

OUR PICK: SAINTS BY 3, OVER 52

Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers (-6.5) O/U 46

After an average season for Aaron Rodgers last season, where many pundits thought he was washed up, he just continues to prove them wrong by producing the most important statistic in football: winning. An MVP favorite this season, finishing 13-3 before the season ended, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time continues to just win ballgames. On the other end of the field, not many expected the Rams to even be here having faced the mid-season favorite to win the MVP in Seattle's quarterback Russel Wilson, yet here we stand. While we still have confidence in Sean McVey's ability to coach and pull the occasional rabbit out of his hat for the Rams, this one looks to be another Packers and Rodgers trip to the championship round.

OUR PICK: GREEN BAY BY 7, OVER 46

Hi this is Aaron from matchbets.com, and we are back for our Best Bets of the Week on January 27, 2021. This week we have two NHL picks on the docket, and a weekend NBA matchup . Don't forget, we at matchbets.com will match your first bet up to $500, we offer 2% juice player versus player, and 10% juice against the house

Best bets of the week: January 27, 2021

Columbus Blue Jackets at Chicago Blackhawks, Friday January 29
Columbus, at 2-2-2 is second in the Central Division standings despite ranking 25th in scoring at 2.5 goals per game and 17th in goals allowed 3 goals per game. The Blue Jackets have gone 1-2-1 on the road and won against the defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2 last Saturday, though Columbus is just 2-4 against the spread for the season. Chicago, at 2-3-1 is currently in third place in the Central Division standings. The Blackhawks are ranked 11th in scoring at 3.2 goals per game, but 28th in goals allowed at 3.8 goals per game and are currently at 3-3 against the spread on the year heading into the week beginning this past Tuesday. The Blackhawks struggle mightily defensively, but HAVE gone 2-0 at home this season. We are picking the Blackhawks by one in a close one here

New York Islanders at Philadelphia Flyers, Saturday, January 30
New York at 3-2-0 headed into this week, rests in sixth place in the very powerful East Division. The Islanders are 1-2 on the road and 3-2 against the spread on the year while ranking a woeful 31st in scoring 1.8 goals per game, however being excellent on defense as they are second in the entire league in goals allowed at 1.6 goals per game. Philadelphia , at 3-2-1, is in fifth place in the East standings. The Flyers have gone 3-1 at home and are 4-2 against the spread this season while ranking eighth in scoring at 3.3 goals per game, but a terrible 26th in goals allowed at 3.5 goals per game. The Islanders removed Philadelphia from last season's playoffs in seven amazing games, but this time we like Philly to get the job done because they have a way better offense than last season, and certainly a better one than the Isles. We are picking Philadelphia by 2 goals in this one.

Dallas Mavericks at Utah Jazz, January 29th.

The Mavericks have been struggling of late as Luka Doncic is basically the only person on the team who can dribble and make passes. New acquisition Josh Richardson got off to a decent start with his new team, but has basically missed half the season after acquiring the Corona Virus. Currently the Jazz are predicted to have a win percentage in this game of around 60% behind their stars Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, and Mike Conley, and they seem to be a team on the rise who can make a deep run in the playoffs before having to eventually face one of the two forces in Los Angeles in the Clippers or the Lakers. With this game being in Salt Lake, we are picking the Jazz to win 120-110 in a shootout.

  • Best Bets of the Week on February 3, 2021. It's SUPER BOWL WEEK
    Feb 12 2021

Hi this is Aaron from matchbets.com, and we are back for our Best Bets of the Week on February 3, 2021. It's SUPER BOWL WEEK, so we will focus solely on that, as it is the game that has the most betting in all of sports, in all of the world, every year . Don't forget, we at matchbets.com will match your first deposit up to $500, we offer 2% juice player versus player, and 10% juice against the house

These are your Best bets of the week: February 3, 2021

THE SUPER BOWL: Kansas City Chiefs (-3.0) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Over/Under 56 points)

In all honesty, I believe the Chiefs should have been favored by more considering their 14-2 regular season record and are the defending Super Bowl Champions, and in my opinion the reason they probably aren't favored by more has a name: Tom Brady. I spent part of this morning watching the 2003 Quarterback challenge at the Pro Bowl in Honolulu, where Brady had just come off his first Super Bowl MVP award, and for reference, was competing in this QB challenge against the likes of players like Marc Bulger, Brad Johnson, Jeff Blake, Matt Hasselbeck, and Mark Brunell. Remember those guys? Tom did well in the competition and won the long distance challenge at a throw of 62 yards. Boomer Esiason was broadcasting the event and said Tom had "big shoes to fill in replacing Drew Bledsoe". Think about that for a second. Fast forward EIGHTEEN YEARS and here we sit with Brady appearing in a record TENTH Super Bowl, albeit with a new team in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who finished the regular season at 11-5 and in the playoffs have dispatched of The Washington Football Team, Drew Brees and The New Orleans Saints, and soon-to-be MVP Aaron Rodgers and The Green Bay Packers. This dude just doesn't know how to lose in the playoffs. On the other side of the field, Enter The Kansas City Chiefs. As I mentioned, they ARE the defending Super Bowl Champions, finished 14-2 on the season for a reason, well a LOT of reasons including reigning Super Bowl MVP , quarterback and Texas Tech's own Patrick Mahomes, Head Coach Andy Reid, and a defense that just keeps getting better as defenses around the league just continue to get worse. I watched on television the night in 2016 where Baker Mayfield and the Oklahoma Sooners travelled to Lubbock Texas to take on Patrick Mahomes and the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and the numbers from that Sooners 66-59 win still seem unfathomable. Mahomes himself set an FBS record 819 yards of total offense and 734 passing yard. SEVEN HUNDRED AND THIRTY FOUR PASSING YARDS. And this while playing through a separated THROWING shoulder and a fractured left wrist. Unbelievable. Full disclosure: I am a University Of Oklahoma Alum and loved Baker Mayfield, but when I saw this game I knew Patrick Mahomes was going to be an absolute star in the NFL, and better than Baker. So far that's turned out to be true. All that aside, defense doesn't win championships anymore, Quarterbacks do. I'm taking the Chiefs over 3, and the over 56 points. And if I really want to be bold, which I'm about to do, I'm going to predict that the Chiefs win 38-24.

  • Picks of the week: March
    Mar 16 2021

Hi this is Aaron from matchbets.com, and we are back for our Best Bets of the Week on March 10, 2021. Don't forget, we at matchbets.com will match your first deposit up to $500, we offer 2% juice player versus player, and 10% juice against the house. The NCAA tournament is coming up on us quick, which I'm sure every one of you bettors are excited about, and we will cover extensively, we still sit here with Gonzaga with the number one ranking and Baylor securely back at number two. This past weekend saw North Carolina absolutely destroy Duke, who at this point will have to miraculously win the ACC tournament to even get into March Madness, as will Kentucky. It's been a crazy season. Also, this past weekend saw Dak Prescott finally getting his long term deal for 4 years and upwards of $160 million dollars, so at least we can put that talking point to rest. The Chicago Bears franchise tagged wide receiver Allen Robinson, the University of Kansas has suspended head football coach on allegations made against Les Miles from his time at LSU, and offensive tackle Trent Brown is headed back to the New England Patriots. The NBA All-Star Game saw team LeBron beat team KD 170-150 behind Giannis' 35 points. That's the wrap for the weekend NOW, These are your Best bets of the week: March 10, 2021 This Saturday, March the 13th, The 7-29 Minnesota Timberwolves host the 21-14 Portland Trailblazers. At the moment, Portland has around a 65% chance of winning, which seems a little low on our end considering how very opposite their current records are. The Blazers are currently on a three game winning streak behind Damian Lillard's 30 points per game and he is unquestionably the most clutch player in the entire league, whilst Minnesota has the worst record in the league and have a new head coach in Chris Finch. OUR PICK: Portland by 20, 115-95 Also on Saturday, we have a good one in the NHL in a rematch as the Winnipeg Jets take on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto was all but dominant leading up to this game, but have struggled of late, losing their last three, including a 4-3 loss to the Jets on Tuesday. The two will play again Thursday AND Saturday, but as for Saturday, we think the Leafs get it back together and return to their winning ways behind points leader Mitchell Marner and leading scorer Auston Matthews. OUR PICK: Toronto 5, Winnipeg 2 This week are the NCAA conference tournaments, which of course leads us into March Madness and the NCAA tournament, so expect a lot of picks next week in that regard. This has been Aaron with matchbets.com, don't forget to get your picks in early as lines are constantly changing, and take advantage of our offers of matching your first deposit up to $500, and 2% juice player versus player and 10% juice against the house. • Bets of the week 3/16/21
    Mar 16 2021

We are back for our Best Bets of the Week on March 16, 2021. Don't forget, we at matchbets.com will match your first deposit up to $500, we offer 2% juice player versus player, and 10% juice against the house. March Madness is upon us! So we won't waste your time with anything else. Blueblooods Duke and Kentucky are both missing the tournament in the same year for the first time since 1976. That drought is older than I am, and my beard is gray. Now before 2018, the number one seeds in the tournament were 132-0 against sixteenth seeds, and in that year, 2018, the 16th seeded University of Maryland Baltimore County beat heavily favored #1 seeded Virginia by 20 points. However, we at matchbets.com think it's safe to say that 2021 number one seeds Illinois, Baylor, Gonzaga, and Michigan should all be safe bets. So let's explore the first-round matchups that usually provide the most drama and upsets: The 5 seeds against the 12 seeds, and an 8-9 matchup for good measure

NOW, These are your Best bets of the week: March 16, 2021

On Friday, March 19th, 12th seed Oregon State takes on The 5th seeded Tennessee Volunteers. Currently, Tennessee has a projected winning percentage of around 83%, and is favored by 7.5 points behind a very balanced team led by their leading scorer, guard Jaden Springer.

OUR PICK: Take Tennessee over the 7.5 points

Also on Friday, The 5th seeded Villanova Wildcats take on the Winthrop Eagles, who just won the Big South conference title to earn an automatic bid. Winthrop is a pretty balanced team offensively, but going up against Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Villanova seems a daunting task, with the Wildcats currently sitting at an 85% winning percentage. The line is 6 points in Villanova's favor, but we think it won't be that close.

OUR PICK: Villanova wins by more than 6 points

On Saturday, March the 20th, The 12th seeded UC Santa Barbara Gauchos play the Creighton Blue Jays, who at present time have around a 76% chance of winning this game, and are 6.5 point favorites behind Marcus Zegarowski's 15.5 points per game. While we are tempted to pick this as our 5/12 upset, this isn't the one we are gonna go with.

OUR PICK, take the Blue Jays in a close one, but they don't cover

Also on Saturday, the 5th seeded Colorado Buffaloes take on the Patrick Ewing-led 12th seed Georgetown Hoyas. Colorado currently has around a 74% chance of winning and are 5 point favorites behind McKinley Wright IV's 15.5 points per game, but this is the upset we are picking. Georgetown's leading scorer Jahvon Blair has been on fire with 15.8 points per game, but they have multiple scorers that can hurt you.

OUR PICK: Georgetown wins outright in an upset

On Friday, the 9th seeded Wisconsin Badgers play the 8th seeded North Carolina Tar Heels. It was a turbulent year for the Heels, and even Hall OF Fame coach Roy Williams stated that halfway through the season, he wasn't even sure they would make it to March Madness. This is gonna be a barn-burner, But we think the 2-point favorite Tar Heels will take this one behind big man Armondo Bacot (BAKE-it)'s 12.2 points and 8 rebounds per game.

OUR PICK: North Carolina covers the two points in a win

  • BEST BETS OF THE WEEK: MARCH 23, 2021
    Mar 25 2021

Hi this is Trevor from matchbets.com, and we are back for our Best Bets of the Week on March 23, 2021. Don't forget, we at matchbets.com will match your first deposit up to $500, we offer 2% juice player versus player, and 10% juice against the house. March Madness is upon us! The first several rounds were absolutely crazy with #1 seed Illinois going down to Loyola Chicago, Oklahoma State dropping to Oregon State, And VCU losing without even playing due to Covid 19. So we won't waste your time with anything else.

Without further ado, these are your best bets of the week on March 23rd, 2021:

On Saturday, March 27th, Cinderellas Loyola Chicago and Oregon State face off after upsetting Illinois and Oklahoma State respectively. While we are tempted to take Loyola with 101-year-old Sister Jean as their biggest fan, we expect the Oregon State Beavers to pull this one out. Loyola is favored by 6.5 points, but we don't think it's going to go that way. Oregon State has a low seed, but often in the tournament, teams are UNDER-seeded for a number of reason. We believe that to be the case for the Beavers.

OUR PICK: Oregon State in an outright win

15th seed Oral Roberts University pulled off two huge upsets against Ohio State and Florida, and now face #3 seed Florida in the Sweet 16. As much as we all love a Cinderella story, we think that run ends here. The Razorbacks are favored by 11 points, and we expect them to win by more than that behind Moses Moody and Justin Smith

OUR PICK: Arkansas covers, wins by more than 11.

On Sunday, #1 Overall seed Gonzaga takes on the #5 seed Creighton Blue Jays. While it might be tempting to pick an upset here, Gonzaga is 28-0 and have 2 of the top 15 prospects in next years NBA draft. The Bulldogs currently have around an 82% chance of winning and are favored by 13.5 points. We do pick Gonzaga to win, but with it being March Madness, we think it will be closer than that.

OUR PICK: Gonzaga wins, but doesn't cover the spread
