As a result of colonization, Black womxn were involuntarily placed in subordinate social roles; this has led to gross societal misconceptions of this particular group and impacts the ways in which Black people are portrayed in media, perceived in society and negated in education (Harris-Perry, 2011). As Black millenial women comitted to honoring the lived experience of Black people, Dr. Pep is joined by producer of the podcast JT Seymour, to discuss: how Black people are conveyed in the media, how Africa is portrayed and the influence media has on how Black humxns see themselves and each other.
