  • Midnight Looms 076 – DEAR TEVA – April 26th 2022
    Apr 28 2022
We’re doing it again. An entire episode of music devoted to the memory of our host’s “real life hero”, TEVA HARRISON. If you don’t know Teva, she was and is an acclaimed AUTHOR, ILLUSTRATOR, POET, and CANCER ACTIVIST. Sounds like an amazing person, right? You have no idea. Teva was truly MAGIC. She passed away in 2019 and every year since, we’ve dedicated an episode of this show to celebrating her life. We explored TEVA’S RECORD COLLECTION with her husband, David. Last year, we played DEDICATIONS FROM HER FAMILIES. Both the one she was born into and the one that she chose. This year we’re branching out and playing song suggestions from people that Teva had special relationships with. Friends from both near and far, work colleagues, collaborators, and what all these people share in common is that they all now carry Teva with them, and they’ve all chosen songs that demonstrate that beautiful bond.  Some absolutely amazing and creative individuals sent in dedications along with their song suggestions. We hear from author and playwright, JORDAN TANAHILL; host of CBC’s THE NEXT CHAPTER, SHELAGH ROGERS; Canadian superstar, BIF NAKED; as well as Teva’s dear friends, JULIANA VEGH and MARY ST AMAND WILLIAMSON.  Part of Teva’s magic is that she inspires greatness in people and these song selections are a testament to that. DAVID BOWIE, ELVIS PRESLEY, FLEET FOXES, HUGH MASEKELA, LIDO PIMIENTA, PATTI SMITH, PIXIES, STARS, TALKING HEADS, and VENETIAN SNARES, as well as NEW MUSIC from INDIAN CITY and VILIFY. PLUS MORE! And every song was selected by someone who knew and loved Teva.  This episode was a labour of love for our host, Gobs, but they can’t take much credit. Truly, it was Teva that made this happen <3 SIGN UP to our new PATREON and HELP US PAY OUR GUESTS! Get access to loads of EXCLUSIVE CONTENT & OFFERS.
