  • How does Dr. Strange's multiverse of madness tie in to AVENGERS Disassembled? (A Midnight Musings Short Take)
    Apr 16 2022
Writer-director-producer, Robert Meyer Burnett, and his guest, Rrr Mmmm, discuss the connection between the upcoming movie, DR. STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, and the Marvel Comics series, AVENGERS: Disassembled. In that comic series, Dr. Strange finally explains the scope of power running through Wanda Maximoff (the Scarlet Witch).

She can control all of reality and, as a result, reality controls her. Drama, conflict, and tragedy become excuses for her to change the world to fit the way she likes. But as she does, a little more of her slips away and she slowly loses her mind. She becomes the chaos.

Rob also reaffirms his belief that this movie will finally create the opening needed to introduce mutants and the X-Men to the MCU. DR. STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS debuts on May 6, 2022.

  • Do we really need ANOTHER Joker? (A Midnight Musings Short Take)
    Apr 15 2022
THE BATMAN was a fine movie, but there's always room for improvement.

MIDNIGHT MUSINGS Co-Host, Lael Rockwell, questions the way the movie wrapped up and hinted at who the next "big bad" might be in a sequel film. Lael's point: there are so many great villains in Batman's "Rogue's Gallery" why do filmmakers have to keep going back to the same one or two.

Interestingly enough, the three then take a closer look at the villains on display in Reeve's Batman film and the list is relatively short: Joker, Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman - which is the same four, key villains featured in the Batman TV show of the 1960s with Adam West and Burt Ward as the caped crusaders.

Rob points out that many of the classic Batman villains are pretty corny and might not fit with the gritty, realistic characters in Reeve's film. But the use of Falcone and Moroni as key villains in this first movie lent an air of credibility to the storytelling that impressed all three co-hosts.
