  • Your Rights In 2026: Stripped, Stalled, & Blocked
    Jan 3 2026

In this episode of Modern Justice, I will break down what’s actually happening right now in U.S. immigration policy—and why it matters to you. From the government’s renewed push to denaturalize U.S. citizens, to the dismissal of asylum cases and deportations to third countries, to ongoing threats against Temporary Protected Status and lawsuits targeting in-state tuition for undocumented students, this episode walks through the policies shaping people’s lives in real time.

I will also talk about what protections actually exist, what the law allows (and doesn’t allow), and how fear is often used as a political tool. Knowledge matters, understanding your rights matters, and paying attention matters. Silence is how these policies spread.

If you want to learn more or stay informed, I recommend following reporting and updates from:

    • The New York Times

    • Reuters

    • Associated Press

    • The Washington Post

    • USCIS and the U.S. Department of Justice

For legal information and immigrant advocacy resources:

    • National Immigration Law Center (NILC)

    • Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC)

    • American Immigration Council

  • Know Your Rights: Your Rights When Interacting With Law Enforcement
    Dec 20 2025

Hi, everyone! In this episode, I will cover your fundamental rights when dealing with law enforcement and ICE. Please, remember the non-negotiables: stay calm, remain silent, ask for a lawyer, and never sign anything without legal representation. If ICE comes to your home, do not open the door unless they have a valid warrant signed by a judge, which I will put pictures of on my Instagram. Your rights apply whether you're at home, in public, at work, or at a port of entry—and you're allowed to use them. I have also included some practice resources that you can find below!

    Resources mentioned:

    • Informed Immigrant
    • American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)
    • National Immigrant Justice Center
    • Lawyers for Civil Rights
    • National Juvenile Defender Center (for teens)
    • ACLU Mobile Justice app
    • Your city + legal resources or public defender

  • Know Your Rights: Housing Discrimination and Tenant Rights
    Dec 6 2025

In this episode of Modern Justice, I'll break down what housing discrimination really looks like and why it is one of the most harmful civil rights issues in the United States, and needs more recognition. Additionally, I'll explain the protected classes under federal law, the most common signs of discrimination from landlords and management companies, and how these practices impact families, education, safety, and long-term opportunity. Next, I'll walk you guys through the core rights tenants have, such as fair applications, habitable living conditions, protections against illegal evictions, and freedom from discrimination and harassment. The episode will close with practical steps listeners can take if they believe their rights are being violated, along with trustworthy resources.

All the information I shared today comes from legit sources, including: Mass.gov, M.G.L. c 151B., the Fair Housing Act , the National Tenants Bill of Rights, the National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the 211 Hotline for free, confidential housing help. You can also search (your city) + tenant union or legal aid housing for local support. Our Instagram is: https://www.instagram.com/understandingmodrenissues/
