Welcome to Mostly Me, Occasionally Wise — a podcast about growing up, growing older, and figuring it out as we go.

If you grew up in the 80s or 90s and now find yourself raising kids in the WiFi era, you’re in the right place.

We talk nostalgia, modern parenting, marriage, work-from-home life, and the occasional unpopular opinion (yes, E.T. is overrated… and Die Hard is not a Christmas movie).

🎙️ New episodes drop every Wednesday.

Hit follow and let’s figure this out together.

  • I became that Dad: Things I swore I'd never say
    Apr 29 2026

    At some point… it happens.

    You say something…
    and immediately realize—

“Wow… I sound just like my parents.”

In Episode 10 of Mostly Me, Occasionally Wise, we’re diving into the phrases we swore we’d never say… but now say all the time.

    From the classics like:
    “We have food at home”
    “Because I said so”
    “Money doesn’t grow on trees”

…to the ones nobody prepares you for:
    “Don’t eat that”
    “Why is that wet?!”
    “Roll the window down!”

This episode is funny, chaotic, and way too relatable—but underneath it all, it’s about something deeper.

    Because those phrases?
    They’re not just random.

    They’re passed down.
    They’re learned.
And somehow… they start to make sense.

If you’ve ever caught yourself sounding like your parents—or wondered how you got here—this one’s for you.

  • The Conversations We Avoid
    Apr 22 2026

Some conversations don’t happen out loud…

    They happen in our heads.

    We rehearse them.
    We replay them.
We tell ourselves we’ll say something… eventually.

    But we don’t.

In this episode, we’re talking about the conversations we avoid
with our spouse, our kids… and even ourselves.

    Not because we don’t care…
but because we don’t know how they’re going to go.

I share real-life moments from home, the hesitation we all feel, and how the things we don’t say don’t just disappear—they turn into distance.

    Distance in relationships.
    Distance in connection.
    Distance in ourselves.

The truth is, most of these conversations aren’t as bad as we think…

    But starting them?

    That’s the hard part.

    If you’ve ever said “I’m fine”… when you weren’t,
or put off saying something that mattered…

    This one’s for you.

  • WrestleMania 42: Professional Opinions From My Couch
    Apr 15 2026

    WrestleMania 42 is HERE… and yeah… I’ve got some thoughts. 😤

In Episode 7 of Mostly Me, Occasionally Wise, I’m breaking down the official WrestleMania 42 match card—the big matches, the stories, the ones I’m hyped for… and the ones that have me raising an eyebrow 👀

But before we get into all that, we kick things off with the Dad Life Debrief—because life as a dad doesn’t stop just because WrestleMania season is here.

From there, we talk about why wrestling still hits the way it does… even now. The nostalgia, the moments, and why this stuff sticks with you over time.

Then we dive into the FULL card:
🔥 Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton
🔥 CM Punk vs Roman Reigns
🔥 Rhea Ripley vs Jade Cargill
    🔥 Seth Rollins vs Gunther
    🔥 And more…

With predictions, hot takes, and a few “what are we doing here?” moments along the way. 😂

If you’ve been watching all year—or you just show up for WrestleMania—this episode is for you.

  • “The Difference Between Knowing and Understanding”
    Apr 8 2026

We hear things our whole lives…
    “Time flies.”
    “Be patient.”
    “You’ll understand when you’re older.”

But what happens when one day… you finally do?

In this episode of Mostly Me, Occasionally Wise, we take a real and honest look at the difference between knowing something… and actually understanding it.

From parenting and relationships… to the people who’ve shaped us along the way, this episode dives into how life experience turns words into meaning—and how some lessons only make sense when you live them.

Plus, a new Week in Review segment—bringing you into the real moments behind the mic and the experiences that inspired this episode.

If you’ve ever looked back and thought…
    “Now I get it…”

  • Comfort Movies: The Ones that feel like Home
    Apr 1 2026

What makes a movie a comfort movie?

    Is it nostalgia?
    Is it familiarity?
Or is it just that feeling you get when you press play and know exactly what you’re about to experience?

In Episode 6 of Mostly Me, Occasionally Wise, we’re diving into the movies we keep coming back to — the ones that feel easy, familiar, and just right no matter the mood.

    But this time, there’s a twist…

This list isn’t just mine. It’s a mix of my comfort movies and my wife’s — and I’m not telling you which is which.

As you listen, see if you can figure it out.
    Which picks feel obvious?
    Which ones surprise you?

And maybe more importantly… which ones did you get wrong?

This episode covers everything from nostalgic comedies and sports underdogs to cozy, feel-good favorites and unexpected picks — proving that comfort movies don’t follow one formula… they follow feeling.

🎧 After you listen, I want to hear from you:
    What are your comfort movies?
And which ones do you think were mine vs. hers?

  • “From Unstoppable to Relatable: The Evolution of Action Heroes”
    Mar 25 2026

    What happened to action heroes?

There was a time when they were unstoppable.
No fear. No weakness. No explanation needed.

They showed up… and handled it.

But somewhere along the way, that changed.

In this episode of Mostly Me, Occasionally Wise, we take a deep dive through the decades—from the larger-than-life icons of the 80’s, to the charismatic rebels of the 90’s, the grounded professionals of the 2000’s, and today’s more relatable, human heroes.

    This isn’t just about movies.

It’s about how our idea of strength has evolved.

Why we used to admire perfection…
and why we now connect with struggle.

Along the way, we break down some of the most iconic action stars of all time, share behind-the-scenes insights, and build a Mount Rushmore of action heroes that represents the evolution of the genre.

    So the question is…

    Which era are you choosing?

And who’s on your Mount Rushmore?

  • Three Kids, Three Journeys
    Mar 18 2026

Parenthood is a journey that constantly changes.

In this episode of Mostly Me, Occasionally Wise, I reflect on raising my three kids—a four-year-old, a thirteen-year-old, and a nineteen-year-old daughter—and how each stage of life requires a different parenting approach.

From the challenges of building trust with a teen who has experienced trauma, to the heartwarming moments with my daddy’s-boy four-year-old learning to trust Momma, this episode explores the realities, growth, and lessons that come with parenting.

Because sometimes the most important thing a parent can do is simply keep showing up.
