The Greatest Election Of All Time
The pulpit is not the place for politics.
*Not for winning arguments.
*Sharing personal ideology.
*Not for grand-standing or campaigning for political candidates
The pulpit is for sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
*Edifying and uplifting the saints.
*Where discipleship happens.
*Where people come to be fed the bread of life.
*To drink from the waters that never run dry. (John 4:10)
*Preacher is a beggar. To be a conduit through which the Holy Spirit can work.
Scripture text: Judges 9:8-15
The “attractiveness” of divine purpose.
*The olive tree, the fig tree, and the grape vine.
The 3 trees new it would be a step down from their “Divine Purpose” to rule over the trees. –WHAT IS DIVINE PURPOSE?—
Divine Purpose is the reason for the gifts and talents that God has given an individual. It is the way in which an individual fulfills their calling. It’s what he or she was made for.
So why did the bramble say yes?
The Bramble understood that its purpose was inconsequential to reigning over all the other trees. Swaying over trees would be an upgrade.
Does every Christian have a divine purpose?
The call of every Christian is in Matthew 28:19-20 “The Great Commission”
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
The way in which God has designed a Christian to employ their gifts and talents to fulfill the Great Commission, is their divine purpose.
What does this have to do with an election?
*Political elections cannot be about moral posturing.
*Christians cannot look to political leaders, for spiritual counsel.
Political elections can only be about the policies of law that draw more closely in line and cause less conflict with our Christian Values.
Unless they are using their platform to lead people to Jesus Christ, political leaders are BRAMBLES.
*My candidate won. But he’s still a bramble.
Picture Inauguration Day
*Every eye will be watching the president. Some in hate, some in indifference, some in celebration.
If he’s not a bramble, then the first words out of his mouth behind that “Pulpit” will be Jesus Christ is Lord. Repent and be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Trade this corruptible flesh for an incorruptible eternal reward.
