About this listen
The U.S. is experiencing a significant physician shortage estimated at 64,000 providers, that is only predicted to increase to at least 86,000 by 2036. On December 6, 2024, the Iowa Medical Society organized their Operation I.O.W.A. summit of over 60 physicians, healthcare executives, policy experts and community leaders to address this issue, and craft solutions.
In this episode, we are joined by the President of the Iowa Medical Society, Dr. Christi Taylor, as well as Operation I.O.W.A. Co-chairs, Dr. Gerard Clancy and Dr. Michael McCoy, to talk more about the main takeaways from Operation I.O.W.A., and the Iowa Medical Society’s plans to take action on solutions to the physician shortage crisis.
