  • #6 How to raise a successful (and happy) athlete
    Jun 15 2023

Hello and welcome to Out of the Box Performance episode six.

This weeks episode is a bit different. I give you insight into a webinar that Confidence Girls Foundation hosted (thanks to
Vicki Gillespie and Mari Fenton) to raise money for such an important cause - check them out https://confidentgirlsfoundation.com.au/our-story/

Our panel discussed an important topic of facilitating and nurturing kids in the world of sport titled, "From Playground to Podium: Empowering Kids to Thrive in Sport". Our panel consisted of special guest and renowned journalist and author, Madonna King, Courtney Bruce (West Coast Fever captain and prev. Australian Diamonds netball player) and Laura Scherian (Sunshine Coast Lightning vice captain and prev. Australian Diamonds player). I touched on these guest speakers to touch on the importance of hearing others stories, keep an eye out for future events from Confidence Girls Foundation where you can have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field and those who walk the talk.

On this episode I share information that I covered in my panel speech/ discussion.

  • #5 Episode Mandy Napier on "over-responsibility" and doing it all
    Apr 25 2023

Hello and welcome to Out of the Box Performance episode five with guest Mandy Napier (former elite level triathlete and IronMan). Mandy has supported athletes and business people for 14 years as a performance mindset and executive coach. Mandy and I have a coffee style chat in this episode as Mandy shares her top tips on "over responsibility" and how people don't share their loads and do it all themselves. An important thing in high performance is to have strong focus and to take on responsibility. However, it is also important to know when we take on too much. We talk about the importance of sharing the load, finding your values, being aware of your self-care and recovery regimes, and solidifying the 3 legs of your support network. We touch on how we can rely on metrics and technology to the point of sometimes losing our present awareness and body awareness... and more.
