• Darrell Anderson: Ars Gratia Artis
    Feb 9 2026

I’m Darrell Anderson, an artist driven by the belief that art is more than just a way to create something visually pleasing. For me, it’s the thread that ties my life together, allowing me to grow, connect, and contribute to the world in meaningful ways. Art isn’t just what I do—it’s how I live, how I experience life, and how I give back. I’ve been lucky enough to have art take me places I never imagined, introducing me to new cultures and people, while helping me understand myself more deeply. It’s become my way of moving through the world, a constant companion that allows me to express what I see and feel.I find myself constantly observing—whether it’s the people I meet or the environments I’m in. It’s this habit of noticing that allows me to capture likenesses in my portraits, not just of faces but of stories. Each commission I take on, from the 1993 serigraph of Don Baylor for the Colorado Rockies to the celebration of Jackie Robinson’s 50th anniversary, carries with it layers of history and emotion. I strive to bring those out, creating more than just an image, but a story in itself.

Her CDs have won multiple awards including the ZMR Holiday Album of the year for her album “Christmas for Two.” Lisa's album, "A Delicate Balance,” was also considered for Grammy nomination and ranked in the top 5 Albums for worldwide airplay in its genre. Her latest album, “The Wisdom of My Shadow,” achieved #5 on the Billboard Charts for New Age Album.Ms. Downing is a member of The Alliance for Women Film Composers and has received Heartland Emmy® Awards in the “Best Music Composition/Arrangement” category for her original film scores in two episodes of the PBS documentary series “Great Colorado Women,” her original film score for the short documentary “The Torii Gates,” as well as four other Emmy® nominations for her concert video performances and film scores. Lisa was nominated for creating the music used in the documentary about her cousin, Carlotta LaNier, who is one of the “Little Rock Nine”, the first African American students to racially integrate a public high school in America's south — Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Carlotta experienced and has overcome the kind of violent bigotry that most of us can only barely imagine. Ms. Downing was also Emmy® nominated for creating the musical score for a Documentary (Short Subject) film “Miss America By Day” which was submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for Oscar® consideration. Ms. Downing’s collection of original solo piano compositions are fiercely impassioned and many embrace her experiences due to her ethnic background and her passion for gender equality. Although her compositions are technically impressive, the emotional meaning of each piece remains clear and accessible. Her works might be classified as New Age, but they more accurately belong in a yet unnamed genre that would be a fusion of multiple musical categories. Her unique style could be compared with Liz Story, Peter Kater, David Lanz or George Winston, but experiencing her creations will certainly draw you into uncharted musical territories.Lisa’s musical compositions paint a vastly imaginative landscape of powerful and mysterious energies drawn from her seemingly inexhaustible palate of musical creation. She believes that there is a “Universal Source” of music and that this “Source” is streaming at multiple levels through endless and unseen channels that she believes are available to anyone. Lisa says she simply emulates the music she can hear from the “Source” using her skills at the piano, and that the only thing required to become aware of this abundant stream is to be still and listen.

Skip Reeves was born in the Mile High City of Denver, Colorado. But his father being in the military for some 23 years resulted in the family living abroad for much of his adolescent life.

His interest in music was nurtured at an early age, supported by both parents. Starting from 7 years old learning to play the accordion, then moving to the piano at 9 years, then on to the guitar at 11 years old and finally landing on the drums at 16.

In 2003 Skip retired from drumming and through relationships established with the TV show, the children’s show was moved to Radio Disney Denver.

Skip went looking for a station that would allow him to broadcast his idea for a Funk n Groove show that would primarily feature the music of independent artists but include majors as well. That show is called A Funk Above The Rest and it is now internationally syndicated on both terrestrial and digital stations and heard in over 180 countries!
