What a year it was in 2025! Serious growth with IFAST Basketball. The gym is humming along. And my kids are getting BIG! But even with all the good stuff, there’s always a need to look back and reflect. Sure some things went right – but I definitely wasn’t perfect. Where did I miss the mark? And what can I do better in 2026? I cover all that – and some lessons I learned along the way – in this week’s episode! Quotable Quotes: It’s not about giving my kids more stuff. It’s about making memories and doing things that they’ll remember and cherish for a lifetime If you build it, they will come. Well, you know what? That sounds great. And it makes for an awesome movie. But it doesn’t work in real life! The more curious you are, the more enjoyable this whole training and coaching thing is This Week on the Physical Prep Podcast: Family updates: Team Robertson is crushing life right now!Awesome trips and travel in 2025, as well as experiences we’ll remember for a lifetimeWhy I finally decided to push IFAST Basketball, and how I’ll continue to tweak and refine it in the years to comeHow December of 2025 somehow became my most productive month of the year, and helped me really lock in for 2026My life/work theme’s for 2024/2025, and how that’s evolved now for 2026Why the mantra “If you build it, they will come” is absolutely NOT TRUEPersonal goals for 2026, including how I’m investing in my body to stay healthyProfessional goals for RTS, IFAST Basketball, and thoughts on some big projects for the year! • Cody McBroom on Building Unbreakable Self-Control, Self-Discipline, and Self-Belief
    Jan 9 2026
What’s the difference – or maybe the intersection – between self-control, self-discipline and self-belief? And even if you don’t care so much about the semantics and definitions, how can YOU build more of each to become an upgraded version of yourself? This is something I’ve been fascinated by for the bulk of my adult life, and today Cody McBroom and I are going to break all this down in detail. Now if you’ve never heard of Cody before, he’s the owner of Tailored Coaching Method and the Choose Hard podcast. But perhaps most importantly, he’s a guy that’s helped thousands of people lose weight – and if you’ve ever coached anyone on nutrition, you know that self-control, self-discipline and self-belief are all KEY factors in their success. Quotable Quotes: Choose hard, because the hard path leads to the good result Self-discipline is doing what you don’t want to do repetitively to get the result you want Awareness precedes change; knowing the challenge is coming helps you face it Borrow belief from others; their success can inspire your own The quicker you act, the shorter the feedback loop, the more it reaffirms your belief This Week on the Physical Prep Podcast: Why Cody was drawn to learning more about self-control, self-discipline, self-belief and self-respectThe power of “Choosing Hard” versus taking the easy way outHow your environment and the people around you positively (or negatively) impact your self-controlThe power of “If-Then” Frameworks to make decision-making less stressful and more automaticStruggling with self-confidence? Why you should “borrow belief” from others to drive your journeyThe power of positive feedback loops, and how they can fuel your self-belief and performanceHow to overcome self-doubt – once and for allThe 10,000 Hour Rule: Is it really as easy as logging 10k hours to become an expert?A few final takeaways to make sure YOU upgrade your training, coaching and your life!
