Think you’re having a bad day? The powerful stories shared in this episode may completely change your perspective.

In Part 2 of our Golden Ticket series, Pickleballers Next Door sits down with wheelchair pickleball athletes Jeff Fowler and Eric Lazar. We also get a chance to catch up with Scott Moore - Pickleball Hall of Fame.

Jeff and Eric share the life-changing obstacles, injuries, and difficult circumstances they had to overcome—not only to survive, but to make it onto the pickleball court and compete in this historic event.

Their journeys are honest, emotional, and deeply inspiring. They remind us that strength is not defined by what happens to us, but by how we choose to move forward. After hearing what Jeff Fowler and Eric Lazar have overcome, you may look at your own challenges—and your bad days—very differently.

This event, held at Peak Pickleball with USA Pickleball, marked the first Wheelchair Pickleball World Championship. Athletes came together to compete, connect, and show the world that pickleball can truly be a sport for everyone.

We are also joined by Pickleball Hall of Famer Scott Moore, one of the sport’s most recognized senior professional players and the owner of PickleballTrips.com. Scott was there to support the cause, encourage the athletes, and help bring greater awareness to adaptive and wheelchair pickleball.

His presence represents the importance of the entire pickleball community coming together to support inclusion, accessibility, and competitive opportunities for athletes of all abilities.

This episode is about much more than pickleball. It is about resilience, perseverance, community, and refusing to allow life’s greatest obstacles to determine what is possible.

Watch, listen, and share this powerful conversation as we celebrate Jeff Fowler, Eric Lazar, Scott Moore, and the incredible athletes who helped make pickleball history at Peak Pickleball.

  • Episode 75 Part 1 - Golden Ticket: Inside Peak Pickleball & USA Pickleball’s First All-Adaptive Tournament
    Jun 25 2026

Episode 76 of Pickleballers Next Door takes us to Peak Pickleball in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for a historic event: USA Pickleball’s first all-adaptive Golden Ticket tournament.

This inspiring tournament brought together adaptive athletes from across the country for outstanding competition, meaningful connections, and an unforgettable celebration of perseverance. We witnessed firsthand the determination, athleticism, and strength of players who overcome challenges many people never have to consider.

In Part 1 of this two-part series, we speak with Corey White, an adaptive pickleball player from Utah; Cody Smith from the Paralyzed Veterans of America Mountain States Chapter; and adaptive athletes and advocates Andrew Lewis and Mick Tingstrom, who worked tirelessly to help bring this groundbreaking tournament together.

The stories behind why some of these athletes use wheelchairs are powerful—but their stories are about much more than their injuries. They are about resilience, community, competition, and refusing to let physical limitations define what is possible.

The first all-adaptive Golden Ticket tournament was a tremendous success and an important step forward for accessibility and inclusion in pickleball.

We also talk with Dave a member from Peak, who started playing, because of depression and he talks how it helped him to start smiling again.

Coming soon in Part 2: intimate, one-on-one conversations with several of the athletes as they share the personal stories behind the wheelchair, their journeys back to competition, and how adaptive pickleball has changed their lives.
