Titus Maccius Plautus, commonly referred to as Plautus, was a renowned Roman playwright who lived from approximately 254 to 184 BCE. Plautus was born in Sarsina, a small town in Umbria, Italy. Not much is known about his early life, including his family background or education. However, it is believed that he came from a humble background and worked as an actor before becoming a playwright.
