Yes, we have a new podcast. We are going through 100 songs released in 1986, picking one song per artist in an attempt to tell the story of a wild and oft-changing year in music. With each episode we (Tim and Chris) alternate with a 10-song theme.
This week we launch a level-201 course in Divorcecore, a genre created by JD Ryznar of "Beyond Yacht Rock" about a decade ago. Here Tim runs through songs from 1986 that spoke to the overwhelming sadness and passive aggression of white male issues. There's plenty of searching guitar, brooding vocals, glossy synth productions ... and Phil Collins.
