About this listen

People are complicated. Join Alex Williamns as he dives into history to explore some of humanities most complex men and women. Season 1 will see us tell the story of Odysseus, the legendary figure himself. As for our choice in title? "Polytropos" can be translated for "many wandering", "many faces", or "many turning" - which might be an apt description for any of us. It was the first word used by Homer to describe Odysseus in "The Odyssey". Different translators translate it differently, but Emily Wilson translates it as "complicated". Odysseus, our first subject, was a complicated person. So am I. And so are you. And so will everyone else be, who we explore in this podcast. We are delighted to have you.Copyright 2023 POLYTROPOS FM Social Sciences World
