    In this episode, we talk with Meranda Collins RN the RN supervisor for MyMichigan Family Practice in Midland, Michigan. Meranda completed her ADN at Delta College in 2013, her BSN at Western Governor’s University in 2017 and her MSN in Leadership and Management at Western Governor’s University in 2022. She has been with MyMichigan Medical Center for 11 years. 5 of those spent on the Observation unit and 6 with Family Practice Center. She has worked in several different roles in the clinic from working as direct provider support, telephone triage and for the last 2 years as the RN Supervisor.

    Meranda shares her experience implementing the Trauma Informed Care model in their practice and the positive outcomes they have experienced.

    In this episode we talk with Beverly Walters, RN a newly retired Special Projects Care Manager with Oakland Physician Network Services a physician organization in Oakland County Michigan. Bev devoted 10 years to making end of life planning an integral part of medical office practice. Bev shares her journey into implementation of Advance Care Planning (ACP) in the primary practice and the dedication to respecting patient's health care choices, including end of life care and honoring those choices. Bev highlights that the purpose of an ACP conversation is not to create a document, but for the clinician to get to know the patient and what matters most to them regarding their healthcare and future treatments the might affect them. The greatest benefit of the ACP is that it promotes important levels of communication.

  • Integrating Behavioral Health in the Primary Care Practice

    In this episode we talk with 3 behavioral health specialists who support patients with mild anxiety and depression in the primary care practice. Jennifer Fisher LMSW CAADC supports a pediatric practice, Kimberly Baker, LMSW and Sarah Frederick, LMSW both support adult practices in behavioral health management of their identified patients with anxiety and depression who may have only been managed by medications in the past. They share their experience of impacting patient lives, assisting them to improve their overall health and mental well being.
