  • Rising from The Ashes After Life Changing Events + Discovering Your True Purpose, with Meg James
    Jun 4 2024

In today’s episode, I’m thrilled to introduce you to Meg James - a Trauma Recovery Coach and Meditation Teacher who helps people with traumatic histories break free from survival mode and rise from the ashes like never before. As one of the leading teachers on the Insight Timer and Kic (Keep it Cleaner) apps, Meg’s guided meditations have helped over 4 million meditators worldwide.

I came across Meg’s incredible work several years ago and have been super inspired by how she has evolved her business. I was keen to chat to Meg about her career journey and how she was able to land in a deep place of purpose and fulfilment in her work.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • How Meg, during her high school years, was being pushed towards career directions that were misaligned with her true nature and resulted in her falling into a career that wasn’t right for her.
    • Meg’s early career in Media and Advertising and following the path that was expected of her. While it seemed like a sensible thing to do and was financially viable - it ultimately turned out to be the most misery-inducing experience of her entire life.
    • The nagging feelings Meg experienced during her corporate career, that something was off. She felt like she didn’t belong and was like a black sheep of her peers - spending her spare time doing yoga and attending retreats vs all of her peers who were going to parties and out drinking.
    • These misaligned values became increasingly apparent and became the catalyst for change.
    • Meg's upbringing; how she was introduced to meditation and yoga at such a young age and played a pivotal role in shaping her career; helping her to gain clarity and making aligned decisions that felt true to her.
    • The internal discomfort and tug of war Meg felt when it was clear she was on the wrong path; and how Meg’s practices became an anchor and helped her shape the next chapter of her career.
    • The turning point on Meg’s career change journey and the exact moment she knew it was time to leave her corporate career and pursue her passion for mindfulness and meditation.
    • The serendipitous opportunities that began to arise once she made the decision and began taking steps towards defining her new career path.
    • How Meg handled the uncertainty of her new path and allowed herself the time and space to experiment and find her flow.
    • The unexpected life changing events that led to the next evolution of Meg’s career, and ultimately led to uncovering her greatest purpose.
    • The magic that happens when you step out of thinking and into feeling vs planning and strategizing, and allowing things to flow.
    • The simple practices Meg uses to tune into her inner compass and make heart led decisions.

  • The Power of Trusting Your Intuition and Inner Guidance on Your Career Change Journey, with Natalie Sgambelluri
    May 20 2024

Today I am joined on the podcast by Natalie Sgambelluri, the creator of Empowered Integration, a space for healing and hypnotherapy, based in Denmark, Western Australia.

Nat and I crossed paths back in 2021 during our hypnotherapy training and I’m super excited to share this juicy conversation with you about the transition from her physiotherapy career to her focus on hypnotherapy and somatic healing and how Nat leaned into her intuitive guidance to lead the way on this incredible journey.

In this episode we talk about -

    • The intuitive nudges that led Nat to studying physiotherapy following high school and how she only realized in hindsight that this chapter of her career was merely a stepping stone onto the work that she’s doing today.
    • How over time Nat has cultivated and developed her intuitive abilities that have helped to guide her on her path to making aligned decisions that are true for her.
    • The simple way to distinguish between intuitive guidance and logical thoughts.
    • The ways in which Nat’s early career in physiotherapy was shaped by external forces and what success should look like, which led to burnout.
    • The confusion Nat was confronted with when she was ticking all of the boxes on what should have been an incredibly successful life and career, and yet she was incredibly miserable.
    • The warning signs that Nat was out of alignment and the misguided beliefs she adopted as her own that led to unhealthy decisions she was making about her career.
    • The natural evolution of Nat’s career after following her curiosity and how she began shifting into alternative healing modalities that complemented her physiotherapy practice.
    • The simple shifts Nat made so she could make her career work for her, on her own terms and allowed space to focus on her passions and purpose work.
    • The external forces that led to Nat making some major decisions about her next career move and the opportunities that opened up once she committed to her values and personal truth.
    • The power of starting small when you’re growing something new and allowing it to evolve naturally over time.
    • The monumental shifts that have transpired in Nat’s life since venturing on this path and how vastly different her life looks and feels today.
