 "Qatra Qatra/Drop by Drop. Perspectives from Afghanistan" is a contemporary art exhibition organized by Fondazione Imago Mundi at Gallerie delle Prigioni, in Treviso (Italy), from November 25, 2021, until January 9, 2022.

What does the title of the exhibition mean? "Qatra Qatra Darya Mehsha" is an ancient Afghan saying which means "Drop by drop becomes a river": it emphasizes the importance, drop by drop, of giving shape to a river of hope and determination. The exhibition, curated by Aman Mojadidi, gathers works made by 4 women artists of Afghan origin (Kubra Khademi, Hangama Amiri, Rada Akbar, and Lida Abdul) and 1 male Mexican artist (Mario Garcia Torres).

They narrate today's Afghanistan between war and hope, between peace and uncertainty, denouncing and deconstructing the patriarchal culture.

    Mario Garcia Torres (Monclova, Messico, 1975) is a conceptual artist using various media, including film, sound, performance, ‘museographic installations’ and video. Garcia Torres refers to untold or ‘minor’ histories (the stories told live and that do not enter the official news) as departing points for his work, while questioning universal ideas about truth, certainty and time. He has re-created historical exhibitions and even ‘completed’ unfinished artworks, blurring original and reenactment, past and present. In the early 2000s, García Torres stopped dating his works as a way of undermining the narrative that a career, and the works produced within it, is the result of a progressive evolution over time.

    Lida Abdul (Kabul, 1973) is a video and performance artist who addresses themes of devastation, displacement, identity, and the body, including how each interacts with architecture. Her artworks reflect on cultural identities and migrations, the exile and political instability of his country and political resistance. Having left Afghanistan after the Soviet invasion in 1979, Abdul lived in India and Germany before settling in the United States (in Los Angeles). She received Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Political Science and Philosophy before completing a Master of Fine Arts at the University of California in 2000. Her work has been exhibited widely, including the Istanbul Modern, Kunsthalle Vienna, Museum of Modern Art Arnhem, Miami Central, and the 2005 Venice Biennale.
