  • October 2, 1999: Live it Up Baby!
    Jan 20 2026

Welcome back to Queen Shh Podcast, it's your girl Opal Ellyse, back at you with episode 29!!

We are back in the 90's for this episode!! This entry is called "Live It Up Baby" and it's all about a full circle moment/epiphany and I even allude to the royalty piece so it's perfect for Queen Shh.

The dawn of a new year presents an energy of renewal and offers space for reflection but it's often more about shedding what didn't serve us in the past, especially the past year. For me it is imperative that I honor that this year in a real way, a raw way, in a way that is transformative and dynamic.

    Themes:

    • Presentation, preparation and care. Talk about a new years message! OcIf there is one thing I feel is a given that I can improve it is that. When I tell you the care, heavy on the self care is a WHOLE THEME for me this year, this decade, this life.
    • Knowing you have grown and being presented with the mirror that shows you is such a gift, such a beautiful feeling too.
    • Choosing right, it should be self-explanatory, but not always. WE are faced with so many choices, and this is probably high on everyone's list right now. So many things at this moment in time feel existential. Politics, wealth, our jobs, how much time we spend on what, our self-care, our stress level, it's all up for real questioning right now and I LOVE it, it's like the whole world is reflecting in real time and choosing right matters more than ever. Who can relate?
    • Trusting yourself. This right here is probably the single most theme for me over the past few years, with an emphasis on the last year.
    • Counting on the Divine to provide. This has been the biggest game changer in my life. Financially, spiritually, mentally, physically, and all the places that matter. He will provide. He always does. That's the cheat code, that's the major key, that's the real.

Part of being a Queen is trusting yourself on what to let go of and what to go for.

    - What is your intuition telling you that you have been ignoring because it goes against what you think other people think?

    - What do you need to trust God to provide for you in this season?

    - How can you show up in a way that represents all you are and all you are called to be? What changes do you need to make to do that?

Author, poet, spoken word artist and emcee Opal Ellyse has been keeping handwritten journals since 1995. • Oct. 28th, 2023: Balance
    Dec 31 2025

This entry is called "Balance" and there has been so much talk lately about there being no such thing as balance and I believe balance is real and achievable, it just doesn't always feel or look like what we might think. It's not often a perfect smooth blend of all aspects of your life, it's a constant battle and effort as well as a pull and push with surrender and will.

    Themes:

Doing too much. . .I could write a whole book on this one, and I am betting many of you could as well.

Creating content. . .for REAL, the kind you are born to create.

New levels require new strategy AND new MO. Strategy gets all the glory and the cool points, but it's the execution and the MO that gets it done and gets you there. We cannot elevate to greater by doing the same.

Being about my Father's business this is so much bigger than our perceived balances or imbalances, bigger than what's in front of us. For me, my dreams are God given and making them a reality is my duty, it requires my faith and it's why I'm here.

Onward!!Thank you for rocking with me on this episode of Queen Shh, and for being a part of my tribe.

Part of being a Queen is fulfilling your God given destiny. It is imperative that we trust ourselves and carry out the vision God gave us, with courage and an unapologetic urgency and grace. #Again

    - When you look back on the past year, do you feel you achieved a healthy balance overall (work/life, family/self, social/stillness, joy/peace, urgent/slow).

    - What feels out of balance? Why have you prioritized your time the way you did this year? This life?

    - What can you commit to that will make you (JUST YOU NO ONE ELSE) feel more in balance? Will you?

  • September 20th, 2010: Killing Cows and Making Burgers
    Nov 30 2025

For episode 27, we are back with an online journal entry, as I have mentioned before, you can follow the breadcrumbs, find my blogspot and enjoy all the tea I've served there for years. Or just wait for the good shh to hit Queen Shh Podcast!

This entry is called "Killing Cows and Making Burgers". It comes from 2010, and it was heavily inspired by a line Lady Gaga says to Beyonce in the "Telephone" music video. The phrase stuck with me and it's a needed check in point for me, so here in 2025 I am checking in on my progress with killing the cows and making burgers.

Key themes from reflection on this entry:

    • Listen. God, life, the universe, our higher selves are sources reminding us of who we are and who we are destined to be but also connecting us in ways we never thought possible. Listening to the whispers and then quieting and challenging limiting beliefs can be one of the most rewarding things in life.
    • The prep time is over. . . The moment you arrive is the moment you arrive! So don't cower or step back when it's your moment. People want to celebrate you and spend time with you, breathe your air. So, in the words of Mel Robbins, LET THEM!!
    • More than a conqueror. God first, always. There was a quote in a recent sermon that said, "what is explained as strategic is experiences as surrender". A WHOLE WORD from Pastor Stephen Furtick! That part, that part, that part!
    • I am a creator, a creative and not a robot. I am real. Mind you I wrote this well before all of the AI stuff was hitting, this is 2010 and I'm saying I'm not a robot. Why, because creators know first and we early adopt to things that will stay and remain.
    • Time to take action and make that burger. . .i had a couple setbacks and shiny objects that distracted me. I've known longtime that my distractions often come in amazing packages, but the dream is to be lived now. Right now!! And with that, let's go live them!
    • Onward and upward, the learning will continue and so will the level up!

Part of being a Queen is fulfilling your God given destiny. It is imperative that we trust ourselves and carry out the vision God gave us, with courage and an unapologetic urgency and grace.

    - What whispers are you ignoring?

    - What would happen if you listened to the whispers and gave it your all?

    - What and who are just "noise" in your life? How can you filter them out?

  • September 12th, 1999: What I've Been Learning
    Nov 1 2025

For episode 26, we're taking it back to the 90s!! 1999 to be exact, and it's right on time, cue Brandy and Monica!

This short and sweet entry is exactly what I am feeling right now. I called this entry "What I've Been Learning", and I am currently in a period of learning and development right now and it's for sure a blessing but also not super easy. And it's me who's making it hard, that's also part of the lesson, but a hard thing to let go of. Hopefully this resonates with you too, because this is never just for me, there is def something in the air right now.

Key themes from reflection on this entry:

    · Periods of learning and how they feel going through vs how they are appreciated looking back.

    · Stop worrying about what others think, chyle! This one, it's such a different beast now than it was back in the day but it's also the same BS. Don't fall for the okie doke, don't believe the hype!

    · What would happen if I failed? I had a professor once who called me an achievement junkie, in the nicest of ways but that resonated with my soul, and I still think about it often. I am, and my addictions aren't above anyone else's just because I am rewarded for them. The pathology is the same. Now, this has served me well, very well and I would not change this aspect of me but understanding in every moment than I am more than what I do or can achieve is an active and intentional process for me. I am worthy just because I am, and not just because of what I do or can do.

    · I am so secure in my stance on being single and taking time for me to heal from my last relationship and truly no desire to be in one right now because of my focus right now and being in love with my dreams. Honestly, I think more people need to slow down between relationships and heal and then ENJOY themselves, I am in that stage, I really like who I am and my life right now, I don't feel like anything is missing except maybe more freedom and I hold the keys to that.

Part of being a Queen is fulfilling your God given destiny. We have to trust ourselves and carry out the vision God gave us, with courage and an unapologetic urgency and grace.

    • What are part of your destiny are you putting on the back burner despite knowing you need to move on it?
    • Are you overthinking what you think people think about you? – If so stop.
    • Who do you really want to be and how do you need to spend your time to reflect that?

  • June 23rd, 1999: Sweet-19
    Sep 15 2025

For episode 25, we are taking it back to the 90s!! 1999 to be exact, and if you recall, 1999 was a transition year, not just for me but for the world, you could feel it in the air as we approached the new millennium.

There is no doubt that right now also feels like a time of transitioning for ourselves, our circles, our world, and in those times it's important for us to be centered. To know without a shadow of a doubt who you are, what you believe, and how you want to show up in the world for yourself and others.

I made this entry after coming home on a night where I was reminded that some of the stuff we find ourselves doing doesn't even match who we are. It was another countless night I found myself out at a party, or club, or get together where I did not enjoy myself, and I would have rather been home. Cue Alessia Cara's "Here". Even at 19 I could tell when things were pointless, and I hate spending precious time doing anything pointless. Fast forward a decade and a half later and I can still relate, can you?

Key themes from reflection on this entry:

    • Level ups and realizations are often paired, make sure you don't miss the blessing or the lesson!
    • It don't take a whole day to recognize sunshine or bs. . .you usually know right away that you don't want to be in a place, or that you should not have said yes, or that you are built for so much more. Sometimes it's that we graduated from spaces that once filled us, or that we once thought filled us.
    • Knowing and sticking to what is important to you will NEVER steer you wrong, as long as you are really following what God put in your heart and what He said.
    • Not spreading myself so thin that I don't represent well. If I cannot show up as my best self, or at least a stellar representation, then I do not have the time to go. I'll use the time to get right and be there for the next one. Now that right there is some QUEEN SHH!!!

Part of being a Queen is knowing who you are and representing that at all times and not entertaining anything less.

    - What are the things in your life you are doing that no longer serve you?

    - Are there things or activities in your life that never served you, but you just go through the motions?

    - Who do you really want to be and how do you need to spend your time to reflect that?

  • July, 14th, 2001: Keys
    Aug 29 2025

For episode 24 I share an entry from way back in the year 2001, when I was 21 years old. I had finally got my keys for my dorm room for the second summer session at UW- Parkside after being without a room for the entire first session!

I was grateful then and I am grateful now, if you have a safe, warm, clean place to say, you are winning!! I don't take for granted any of the necessities or the luxuries I have because I know what it's like to not have, and I know so many go without. On the same token, I want it all, small joys lead to big joys, be grateful for what you have now and BIGGER and better will come, and it will be right on time.

Over the last couple weeks keys have played a significant part for me, one in giving some up on behalf of someone else, and the other in getting keys that were once a wild dream.

Key themes from reflection on this entry:

    · Keys are so symbolic, if you see a key or keys in your dream, it represents opportunities, access, control, secrets, freedom, status, authority, power, knowledge and responsibility. Check my "I Dream in Color Dream Journal" for more meanings.

    · God blessing you around the blessing, or an anointing of ease for what you are doing. The path of least resistance is often the right one.

    · Having your own and the lasting impression that made on me. It's one of my biggest drivers, I am blessed with community, but part of my role that I love is that I am someone people can count on and I contribute to the whole in many ways.

    · God always has me, won't He do it, yes He will!!

    · Everything happens for a reason. . .even if it feels wrong, hurtful, or backwards in the moment. Trust God, trust the process! #Surrender

    · The tip I have been on for a long while: me and God, God's plan!! That's my focus, everything else is just noise.

Part of being a Queen is knowing that every single moment may not feel like royalty, but if you look around and remember who you are, the moment and surroundings will rise to meet you. Keep your faith in God and who He made you to be, Queen!

    - What are the things in your life that are matching your royal?

    - What people, places, things are you settling for that you may need to reevaluate?

    - What things are yours or could be that you don't quite feel worthy of/for yet?

  • July 28th, 2019: Pedestals, I Think Not!
    Aug 5 2025

In this 23rd episode we visit the year 2019, almost 6 years to the day of recording this. For this one we are taking another look at my online diary on Blogspot, and it's short and sweet gem but oh so on time!! This is an episode all about how sometimes we put people, places or things above us and then we get caught up in the hype and end up lowering ourselves. It usually takes something to remind us of who we are and when we do, it's on!!

I just got back from a Atlanta, and ATL was just what I needed to remind me of who I am and I am excited to be back acting accordingly!

Key themes from reflection on this entry:

    · "Birdies" to set down: I have a few birdies to set down right now. Some super close to me, some more every day, some at work, some in my personal life. And again, it's not about them, it's about me prioritizing what I need to do and how I spend my time. There is no prize for breaking yourself for something that isn't even your path.

    · Tripping over people and places: As a poet, I love words, I love slang, I love all the multiple mearings words have, the new and ever evolving meanings we give them and that is the space I love to play in with writing. When I see the words I wrote I think about all the mulitple meanings of the word "trippin", and it's a trip!

    · Be around the best to be the best and don't ever settle. What brought me out of this "tripin" was actually a trip. I went to ATL for a conference, and this is one of my favorite conferences of the year, and when I tell you that I felt like myself again, my boss self, my right to be here self, my real self! It was amazing, and it's because of the amazing people I was around. I don't believe in coincidences, I believe in God, and He was all in that place. He's always got me, so grateful for this reminder, so grateful for this snap back!

A queen lowers herself for no one and only bows to the King, don't get it twisted, and if you did, fix your crown!

    • What/who are some "birdies" you need to set down?
    • Are there places where you lowered yourself or shrunk to fit in? If so, how will you take your space, power and peace back?
    • Why do you think you put those people/places/things on a pedestal? What will you do to prevent it in the future?

Author, poet, spoken word artist and emcee Opal Ellyse has been keeping handwritten journals since 1995. • May 3rd, 2015: I've Always Had a Slingshot
    Jul 12 2025

Episode 22! For this one we travel back a decade and are in 2015, May 3rd to be exact.

I called this one, "I've Always Had a Slingshot" and then a subtitle of "Opal Ellyse Tomashevska is out of poverty for good: in JESUS name!! Coming out of a poverty mindset was one of the biggest hurdles for me. It's a hurdle for many and it's not as easy as it looks, even though it looks hard as hell! Why do you think there are so many rags to riches stories? Because it is one hell of an adventure, and most don't make it!

At the time I wrote this, I had been a comfortable-ish paycheck to paycheck for about a year. Bills are paid, on time for the most part, my credit however sucked because there was nothing extra to put toward anything and no one really willing to give me a card to help build. Shout out to Fingerhut though, because they were the only ones and were there when I needed them. High prices and all, but they let me build credit when no one else would. I still keep the account just off of GP!

I want share this entry with you because it was a milestone on my journey and I think sometimes we think things need to be perfect or impressive before you can give a testimony and that's the exact opposite, you praise Him and you enjoy and you continue to get BLESSED, BEYOND MEASURE!!

Key themes from reflection on this entry:

    · Count up your blessings, who are your Jonathans? In the Bible, Jonathan was a model of true friendship and loyalty.

    · Trading in what you have now for your next!

    · Wealth mindset is a real thing! You don't just shift to get out of poverty or into riches, you keep needing to shift it at every level. It's absolutely a faith thing; you move then God exceeds you. That's it. Sounds simple but it's also some Jedi shh LOL

    · Rich forever. Trust in GOD, He's got you. Also, it's Manna, don't waste it trying to store it up. Trust and go BIG, baby!!

A queen doesn't live in lack, she lives in abundance. Know who you are and what you require, then add what you desire and make it so. It's your queendom!

    - Are you living in abundance in all areas of your life?

    - If there are areas where you feel lack, what is the root cause, what limiting beliefs are you holding onto?

    - What does your next look like? What about your next after that?

Author, poet, spoken word artist and emcee Opal Ellyse has been keeping handwritten journals since 1995. Each week she shares an entry and ties it to current events and relevant topics of conversation. Royalty is living in your legacy while you're still here.
