On 10th May 2025, the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, celebrated 180 years of its existence worldwide, as well as 25 years of sisterhood for Sister Jenipher Machemba.

The celebration also included the first profession of vows for Sister Triza Kumbanda, Sister Rosaline Kanjeli, and Sister Prisca Letiyas at St. Joseph (Ludzi) Parish in Mchinji district.

The ceremony was led by the Auxiliary Bishop of Chipata Diocese (Zambia), Bishop Gabriel Msipu, who commended the sisters for their dedicated service in the archdiocese.

During a Vocation Day celebration at St. Matthias Lumbadzi Parish in Lilongwe, Monsignor Patrick Thawale urged young people to reflect on their vocations by using education, prayer life, and their conscience.

He emphasized the importance of using their talents, especially in technology, for good and for the development of their communities and the Church.

Monsignor Thawale highlighted that youths are crucial for the Church and the country's development and should prayerfully consider vocations like priesthood, religious life, or single life.
