• Don't Give In to the Chaos. The First Step to Your Reset
    Mar 23 2022

“It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” -Krishnamurti

The world is in a cycle of change.  The last few years have been a swirling mass of chaos. From the Covid Pandemic, the world in lock down, the social justice uprising in America that fueled social and economic justice conversations ALL over the world, the ongoing ever-present climate crisis to the war in Ukraine our minds and souls are filled with sadness, anxiety and overwhelm.  But just pushing those thoughts away doesn’t serve us.  We need to talk about them, reflect on them  and let them go so we can move forward.

The first step Kerri shares is... pay attention.  Recognize how your body reacts to your thoughts and reactions.  Let your mind and body be a laboratory for a few days.  We must recognize these things to  give ourselves the time and the attention we need to manage our energy.  To develop habits of awareness. To recognize what does not serve us.  We veer away from values creep to find our path again. We give ourselves a reset.

Yep! That’s right.  As Oprah would say, "You get a reset, and you get a reset and you get a reset!". And you can take that reset over and over, several times a day with a mindfulness habit. You can reset yourself weekly. You can do resets in your relationships, in your eating habits, in your sleep. The RESET is a powerful habit that can become an empowering ritual in your life.

In the first episode of her third season Kerri is leading the way in resetting your brain to trust your instincts, live by your values and reflect the person you are growing to be. So Ready! Set! RESET!

  • Nobody Cares What Fork You Use, But There is This One Aspect of Etiquette That Always Matters
    Mar 5 2022

Modern etiquette can be empowering. Just start with this one rule, and you’re set. The rest- handshakes, eye contact, proper use of utensils- knowing these can boost your confidence and create more ease. But there is this one thing that is always most important.

Skeptical about the role the rules of etiquette have played in women’s lives? You’re not alone. Throughout history emphasizing manners and etiquette have often been a way to keep women marginalized. As women struggle for equality, etiquette seems like more of a burden than a helpmate. Most women have heard phrases like “smile and look pretty”, but that often code for “stay quiet and out of the way.”

All of us in leadership, we activists and change-makers, have to find a way to strike a balance between courtesy and creating meaningful change. But rejecting the formalities that have kept societies stuck in the past doesn’t mean we reject etiquette all together.

Join Kerri and her guest, Jacqueline Whitmore, who explains the new etiquette and the simple guiding rule that will help you release your worries so you can enjoy your engagement with others. Modern etiquette can boost confidence, inspire compassion, and create better relationships as we do our work out in the world.

International Women’s Day Symposium on March 8th, 2022

  • How Being Kind is a Radical Secret Weapon
    Feb 19 2022

In a time of so much turmoil, what if kindness can be revolutionary? What if kind thoughts and kind words could heal ourselves and the world?

It can be hard to muster kindness when we’re feeling anxious, sad, even depleted. And most of us are feeling all of that these days. Be totally honest with yourself, have you been tempted to give up on you, your health, or your passion? Are you wondering if you’ll ever really have the positive impact you’ve worked so hard for? If so, you’re not alone.

Hang in there. Kindness is a cure for that. But, it’s not about giving out to others when you’re depleted. We start with the first kindness, which is kindness to ourselves. What could be more revolutionary?

Because we’ve grown up with the message that “hustle and grind” is more important than “center and align”.  That strict time management and hard, hard work are required for success.  That the measure of a good life is how much stuff we have or how much money we make.  But those are the wrong stories, so it's time we choose to tell ourselves better ones.

Ready to get real? In this episode Kerri discusses nixing the narrative that you don’t have time. And how being kind to yourself can start a cascade of kindness. Not overnight, but over time.

Ready to shush that critical voice and be a bit more kind to you? You’ll get inspiration and tangible actions in this episode.

  • Are you procrastinating your life away? Change your story and get productive instead!
    Feb 11 2022

Everybody procrastinates. We have to. We can’t possibly do every single thing right now. But when we keep putting things off we’re often trying to protect ourselves from making mistakes or draining our energy.

Too much procrastination leaves us feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. To feel more productive and end our days with a sense of achievement, we need to put a stop to the procrastination. One strategy is to adopt new stories about who we are and how we take action in the world.

Procrastination Coach Christine Li joins Kerri to explain how adopting a NEW STORY about who we are can totally change the way we feel about procrastinating. This strategy can flip our motivation and inspire us to happily do those things we used to avoid. And, over time we can evolve our habits until we no longer think of ourselves as procrastinators at all!

Listen in to hear Christine’s train analogy, what she thinks about the power of words, and why we really MUST bet on ourselves. Don’t delay, you won’t want to procrastinate listening to this one!

  • The Absolutely Life Changing Money Story Switch
    Jan 31 2022

It starts with a money story switch, but the real payoff is more time, wellness, and ease.

Your money stories reflect your experiences, beliefs, and goals. They shape your feelings, thoughts, and the actions you take. And because money impacts most areas of your life, your money stories create your reality. Good thing you can rewrite them!

Our guest shares how she did just that. Louise Cartright is a coach, teacher, and entrepreneur who celebrates the abundance in her life- family, wellness, meaningful work, and time to enjoy the outdoors. But it wasn’t always so.

We hear how Louise came to recognize her toxic money stories, and how changing them unleashed the life she has now. And how you can do the same. It's an inspiring chat with some specific actions you can take to make your own moves from an agonizing to an "absolutely life changing" money mindset.

  • The True Story of Teens. It’s All About Growth: Theirs and Ours.
    Jan 17 2022

The teen years are tough, for all of us. But, as leaders, mentors, and parents of teens, there’s a lot we can do to support their resilience. And develop our own.

Kerri’s conversation with Dr. Jen Doty explores ways to support our teens to develop positive habits of personal development. Spoiler alert, as always it starts with our own personal growth.

Jen is a professor and mother, podcaster and now author, having just co-authored the book, “Parenting Teens in Stressful Times.”. Jen’s work focuses on resilience for teens, parents, and families… something that’s more important now than ever.

Something to listen for? Well, Jen’s an adolescent researcher, and I’m a leadership expert, so you can count on us discovering many ways that supporting teens is basically a leadership practice.

The truth is, whether we’re nurturing a teen or a team, the habits Jen studies- like self-awareness and mindfully processing our emotions, sharing our feelings and vulnerabilities, and claiming the stories that serve- are habits that support resilience.  Something we all need in this kinda crazy world.

    In this episode we discuss:

    • How most of us can develop resilience through a number of different learned skills and habits.
    • The power of the habit of self-awareness, and how recognizing our emotions can stop the negative spirals.
    • Embracing positive emotions and developing habits of optimism.
    • We can combat negative stories by reframing and creating living into the narratives that serve us.

  • Did You Know? Stories LITERALLY Change Your Mind!
    Sep 13 2021

Yep, stories change us. Literally. An engaging story starts a cascade of events in our bodies that alters our bodies at the molecular level. Our brains are re-wired, or as neuroscientists say, “live-wired.”

And life changing stories are all around us- not just in books and movies, but in the news, in our relationships… even inside our own heads! That’s why it’s so important to understand the effect of stories on our beliefs AND our bodies, and to learn how to use stories to our advantage.

In this episode we talk about the science of story, and you’ll learn:

    • We can create stories with our thoughts, AND our thoughts create our stories;
    • How story got imbedded in our culture, and how the stories within our cultures shape our beliefs about the world; and,
    • How you can be more aware of these stories in and around you, to direct your thoughts and reclaim your own narrative.
