In this Phoenix Unscripted reflection, I sit beside the fire and follow a thread that has been quietly weaving through my life for decades.

It starts with my motorcycle named Lilith… and leads me into childhood memories of watching bats at dusk, filling notebooks with observations, and falling in love with creatures the world taught us to fear.
